Greetings All,

The Diva Dash, coming up in a month, is a great fundraiser for the Girls on the Run program, which many of us support as running buddies.  If you would like to join us for this fun 5K, please check out the race registration info below.

Tiaras are encouraged... though my running buddy last year claimed she was a "tomboy" and refused to wear hers.  ;-)

Hope everyone is enjoying the unexpected fall sunshine.

Cheers!

Hi all -- Does anyone know the specific route for the Toys for Tots
Trot on 11/19? I have gotten information that it is a loop around the
Seattle Center but when I plot that on Gmaps - it is only 2 miles:
Mercer to 5th to Denny to 1st then back to Mercer - passed the start
line and into the Stadium. Anyone know the actually streets? Much
appreciated. Thanks

Jody,

Cycle U (www.cycleu.com) offers some indoor trainer classes
throughout the fall and winter... the other option is
spinning/indoor cycling at a gym.

I just got a trainer that I really like - www.1upusa.com - it's
pricey but very well rated in all of the reviews. Depending on how
much noise you can put up with and what your budget is (and
remember, you can get a used one too), you have many options... the
most high-end would be a Computrainer which can actually simulate
real routes out there.

Good luck!

I highly suggest going to your local gym and finding some spinning classes.  Although there are a lot of added benefits to a trainer ride (i.e. you are on your own bike) riding a trainer is pretty boring.... and is easy to talk yourself out of.

But if you still want to sit on a trainer, there are some videos out there called "Spinervals" that will take you through a workout.  You might be able to find some at the library.  There are three types of trainers that vary in price:

Friction/Wind $0-$50
Magnetic $50-$150
Fluid $150+

Baiscally, you get less noise and a smoother ride with the more expensive trainers.  Riding a trainer burns through tires really quickly, so make sure to change your back tire to an old one while riding the trainer, or you will be flatting all the time  when you get back on the road.

Hope this helps.  I teach spin at Gold's in Seattle.  Let me know if you want to try a class out.

Robin

LaVonne,
Unfortunately I am unable to come. It seems that everything in my life now happens on Tuesday nights!

But I did want to thank you, and all of the other LunaChix, for a great season. I didn't get to come to as many workouts as I would have liked, but I had a great time and learned a lot when I did. Very inspiring! My friends and I are also stepping it up a notch and eyeing an Olympic-distance tri next summer, so I look forward to working out with you all then. I will need all the help I can get. ;-)

Thank you!

P.S. It was fun to see some of you at Kirkland. I was touched that Sue remembered me (I was on a team with Ann Sloan and my husband) and said hi to me when we passed each other on the run!

The alternative plan is to drink beer instead! :-)

We won't officially call things off, but we can make the call when we
get there if we want to ride or not. Chances are, we'll probably
ride despite the weather. Another idea is to bring your running

I've not done much road riding on wet pavement since getting my new
road bike this summer or since I began using my clipless pedals and I
must say I'm a bit squeamish about taking some spills (although it
wouldn't be the first time).

Just curious to know the game plan . . . THANKS!

Good question, sorry for the confusion! We changed our minds making
the workout just a bike, since it gets dark out so early, but forgot
to update the calender. So please go with the original message that
was sent out, regarding it just being a bike.

Pray for sun (or at least no rain)!

LaVonne

Does anyone have a single baby jogger in good condition that they are interested in selling?

Hi ladies,

It's our last workout of the season and summer has come to an end - sniff, sniff!!  Please join the LUNA Chix for a recovery bike ride, next Tuesday 9/19, on the Sammamish River Trail in Woodinville.  It's a nice way to keep the blood flowing and the muscles loose as the tri season slowly comes to a close.

Since our daylight is limited this time of year, the plan is to ride for an hour total heading north on the SR Trail.  We'll all start together and then turn around and head back after 30 minutes.  Please bring bike gear (don't forget your extra tube and pump!), warm clothes, water/sports drink and a headlamp if you have one.  As always, we will have bars and other goodies available after the workout.

We will meet under the sky bridge in the Red Hook Brewery parking lot at 6:15pm.  Directions can be found on their website:

http://redhook.com/

Have a wonderful weekend and we look forward to seeing you next Tuesday!

Good luck to all those racing Kirkland tomorrow!

We cater to all ability levels from the experienced to the first
time triathlete. Workout plans may vary based on abilities/levels
in attendance.

The workouts are free; however, we are always collecting donations
for the Breast Cancer Fund. Please visit their web site at
www.breastcancerfun d.org for more information.
See you next week! Feel free to email or call if you have any
questions.

I just took this class in the Seattle REI and it is really great!  I highly recomend the class, plus, it was taught by two girls :-)

For anyone that can't make it tonight, the class is offered several times a month, there are two more classes in the Seattle Flagship store this month.

Hi!

I am training for a 1/2 marathon in Big Sur on October 29 and my running
partner has been having some knee problems.  I live in the Queen Anne area and like to run around 5:30am or 6am a few weekdays per week.  I am currently doing 6 miles in about 55-60 minutes.  I need to work on speed and distance in the next 7 weeks and know I can do it, but I would love company for motivation.

That being said, is anyone interested in meeting 1, 2, 3, 4 days per week at glake, Lake Union, or another cool running spot at 5:30am or 6am sometime?

Thanks!
