[Looks like I failed to successfully post my response to the entire
list... ooops!]
A couple of suggestions from a Luna Chix:
- Bo McNair ran a few of our running clinics last year - I really
liked him and I know a few of the Luna Chix have worked with him one-
on-one. I believe he is based in Kirkland, but seems willing to
travel (our clinics were in Greenlake). I'm sure one of the gals on
the list who's worked with him can provide contact info.
- For those of you who would like a group environment, I have a few
friends who run with Run Chuck-It
(http://www.runchuckit.com/chuckit/). They have more structured
traning programs (my friends do the marathon training) and are a good
place to meet people and also get some good running tips. I've only
met the coach of the group socially so don't really know how he
operates from personal experience, but the hearsay has been good.
- Finally, for those of you who just need some motivation to get that
mileage up, find a running buddy - post on this list if you want,
that's what it's here for! Ideally, you should find someone who runs
at about the same pace as you so you can keep up with each other and
not be completely out of breath in your attempts to keep up with the
other person. If it's someone you're already friends with, even
better - you can get a great workout in and catch up while you run
together!
I can vouch that if you keep with it and get past those
initial "growing pains", running will become something you enjoy...
so have fun and good luck!

up a meeting at the track or on a treadmill so I can watch you run
and give you tips for improving form & technique.
