I think stretching is an individual thing. I used to stretch all the time, but after reading paper after paper in my BioMechanics class about how there is no proof that stretching prevents injury, and that in some cases it can CAUSE injury, I stopped. I've been healthy/pain-free ever since. Until yesterday.... I stretched in pilates class, and last night my old hamstring injury reared it's ugly head. Coincidence? Maybe, but highly suspicious.

As a physical therapist and a naturopathic physician, I would also recommend you try to see a PT. If you do see an ortho doc, he/she will most likely refer you to PT anyway. Without knowing exactly what is going on, I can say that it does sound like you may be doing too much, too soon. We forget that even if our lungs and muscles are in good shape, our joints sometimes need a slower re-introduction to exercise. And, whatever you do, make sure you are stretching!! !! If you donąt know how/what to stretch, this is another thing a good visit with a PT will be good for J
