Re: [TeamCatrike] Trikes

I ride in the western part of KY and this state does not know the meaning of bike lanes! But, having said that, I will also state that riding a trike on the highway is the best choice I have ever made. It seems like the cars think your are physically challenged and give you a lot more room. It also maybe that they also think they will not be able to see you when they are close and move over just to watch out for you. Also cars here have been a lot more courteous to a trike than a bike. I have yet to have a car blow the horn at me in anger or when I am going up a hill and they are behind me. I take my lane to the extent of using the part next to the white line with my right tyre about a foot from it. That way the cars does not have to make the decision as to wheather he can zoom around me as another car approaches. also the choice of a Road is a good one! I love mine. If you do decide on one, get a good flag or sail so cars will be able to see you.

Question Trike riders,

Ive been riding bents for a few years and now I am considering the
purchase of a Catrike Road and just wanted to know how does it feel to
sit lower to the ground near traffic on roads with or without bike
lanes. do you feel that a trike is a good choice for road riding or
short tours 20-40 miles. My area does not have many bike trails but our
roads are not normally over crowded either. But there always seems to
be that guy who loves to buzz you on your bike.
Thank you,
Spencer in Avon Park, Fl

One big difference between riding a diamond frame bike and a trike is that it is a lot easier to take the gravel shoulder of a road at speed and not wreck on a...
