I live about two miles from the katy
trail. I think with a road you should have few problems. Most of the trail is
hard packed minus which can be ridden with narrow street tires such as those on
the 700. there are a few spots here and there where the gravel gets thick and
can cause problems. I had a comfort bike before, and I rode hundreds of miles
o the katy trail without any problems at all. The one thing I would recommend is
extra tubes. The trail crosses the road many times, mainly on corners of the
road. There are pieces of broken glass everywhere. If you ride fifty miles on
the trail you will most likely need a new tube. That is about my average.
By the way, after all my checking and
riding demo models I decided upon the expedition. It seems like a great bike
and is so comfortable it is amazing!
Pics will come soon!

Subject: [TeamCatrike] tire choice
Greetings: I have a 2006 Road with standard tires. I
am planning a
trip to the
conditions and wanted to know if anyone has ridden this trail and what
would be the best tires for it. I read some reviews and many said not
to take a road bike...take a hybrid or mountain...But I am riding the
Catrike. Would I be wise to get a heftier tire? If so, what would
someone recommend? Thanks
mike
