Thanks to TeamBultaco member Terry Frazier who came across this
article in Motcross Action Mag and sent me the link. It will be
interesting to see how this developes.

Rick

Rifty,

Did you see this:
http://tinyurl.com/6tz8ns

Two guys from Spain plan to relaunch the Bultaco brand with a modern
Pursang. They don't have anything but a bunch of CAD drawings and a
few clay models as of yet, but plan to start building a prototype
this year. It's quite a nice looking concept.

I wish the racing program managers at AMA and FIM would get their
act together and change homologation rules such that small companies
like this could get into the racing game without having to have a
billion-dollar motorcycle factory. It's not that complicated to
build a dirt bike. You shouldn't need $1 billion in capital just to
get in the game.

Isospatics. But without the shims, this one should have dial-a-rattle.

And to keep this somewhat Bultaco related, I'm also suppose to be trading a bent
Commando frame and swingarm for some Bultaco parts. I should get more details
later.

A good Norton like an ES2 or a model 19? or are you talking Atlas? I
hope you are not thinking of one of the models with "isospastics"?

Hi Dave,

I thought about using an impact wrench but I don't have a bit for the
allen head bolt and I am snowed in and stuck.
Any winter projects? I am having all the chrome redone, a
new rear wheel built and the motor gone through for my 2009 assault
on the AHRMA classic trials class.

That might work.

Take off fork caps and using a really long screwdriver I think on some models
there is a
slot in the top of the damper rod.

You might also have luck with an air impact wrench. I use that for loosening the
bolt in
the first place.

Hello all,

I replaced the fork seals on my early Matador by removing the sliders
from the stanchions. I replaced the seals and when I went to reinstall
the sliders the bolt that goes into the bottom and holds the forks
together just spins. The rest of the forks were not dissasembled only
the sliders were removed. Any advice would be welcomed.

Thanks,

Dave.

Great post, I agree 100%, I'd like to do some vintage in '09 besides
doing only PV and for the life of me can't figure why the 136 is not
vintage legal. It is not even in the same ballpark as a 193, it's
not a PV bike. As stated the 135/136 were very big sellers for Bul
and it's a shame to see them being cannibalized instead of being
used for what Senor Bulto intended.....throwing some roost. Is there
anyway to keep badering AHRMA to change this ? simple fix is no reed-
valved 136 if that's what they fear, easy fix to me.

It's on the Speed Shannel, for me here in So-Cal it's 266. The Gary Jones
repeat episode starts at 3:00pm pst, DeSoto starts at 3:30 pst. Check your local

Fellow vintage dirt bikers,

I have an update on my AMA survey over at MuddyWatersMX.net:
http://www.muddywatersmx.net/surveys/AMA-survey

Christine Smith of Motorsport Publications, LLC (your US source
for classic European motorcycle magazines) has generously
sponsored the survey and is providing a **free, 1-year
subscription to Classic Dirt Bike magazine ($50 value)** as a
prize for one lucky survey respondent.

In addition, Uncle Bill and Gussie Ramsey of Motorcycle
Accessory Shop in Mesa, AZ have put together a package of
their new **480 Racing accessories ($25 value)** that we'll
also be giving away.

If you know these folks please thank them for their interest
in, and support of, this issue.

Finally, I'm putting up a brand new copy of Rick "Super Hunky"
Sieman's "Monkey Butt" book ($20 value).

Once the survey closes we'll do a random drawing and select three
names for the prizes.

If you've already completed the survey, you're good to go. Please
don't take it again -- you'll screw up my statistics!

If you haven't taken it yet, please get the details on the
survey page:
http://www.muddywatersmx.net/surveys/AMA-survey

No matter how you feel about the AMA I really want to hear from
you. Everyone has an opinion. Please take two minutes to
complete the survey and get your chance to win some great
prizes.

Thanks for your support.

Cordially

Make sure the picture isn't too big. 800x600 pixel will work.

Get a shot of the whole front end. May not be the right forks either.

Japanese rims aren't uncommon. I believe the Akronts were a little softer.

Are you sure they are Bultaco hubs? Someone could have also swapped out the
whole
wheels with a little modification.

Post pictures and we'll let you know what wheels you have.
