Here's a true story about the ASV "Unbreakable" levers. A friend of my son's, a
local OC kid, was coming back from riding. His truck had the recessed hook style
tie down anchors on the bed rails of his truck rather than loop style. He hit a
depression on the freeway and as his full size truck suspension compressed then
rebounded, one of the tie downs came off, and his bike got flung out of his
truck onto the freeway at 70mph. First a Mercedes Benz hit his modern Suzuki,
then a truck went completely over his bike. He was able to recover his bike, but
the only thing not demolished on the bike was his ASV levers.

There's a happy ending to the story... ASV heard about his bike, and bought
him a brand new bike of his choice, in trade for his demolished Suzuki. They
have the bike displayed at a large motorcycle accessory shop (Cycle Parts in
Stanton, CA.) to advertise their levers.

Hey Steve, I have an M87 350 which I believe is identical to the M104.
I'll post a pic of my pipe mounts.Mine is just an 8mm bolt through
the frame gusset and on through the pipe mount, with a rubber washer
between the frame and pipe mount. My pipe is a Circle F. Very nice
pipe and fits well. Highly recommended. Follow the link in the
next "New File Uploaded" post for the pics....good luck!

i have a 3/16 bearing. do you think that will be ok the rod fits,
and it sticks out enough for the clutch opr. shaft
to hit the rod .I just droped it in before the rod. (Is that right?)
I will have to wate tell I have the clutch cable and handle

Is your single ball bearing missing?
I dropped mine on dismantling it and had to spend 10 min on the floor
looking for it. It would explain a few things... anyone else..? Am I on
the right train of thought..?

I think because bars were commonly changed, even when the bikes were new.

AHRMA typically looks at the major components, (frame, engine) and ignores parts
that
would typically be replaced with "excessive use" (rims, handlebars, fenders).

I don't think handlebars will provide a significant performance increase, but if
they do,
dang if I ain't tryin' some faster bars. ;-)

While not Spanish parts, Northwest Maico & CZ has Magura Levers and

moved for a higher leverage ratio, (close to the stock CZ Lever). These
modified Magura levers have a higher leverage ratio then any

running those at AHRMA races.

Hi Guys-Awesome group!

I recently picked up a Pursang 370 that I intend to race some vintage
mx on. I remember from the last time I raced a Pursang (27 yrs ago)
that the stock bars and levers, though adequate could be imrpoved. Can
anyone share their experience with replacement controls that provide

Also-I haven't read the AHRMA rule book-they will allow for non

Thank you very much for any response or advice.

Dave, thanks for the link, interesting stuff. The Portus/Montesa engine
looks huge and heavy, no wonder it didn't make it.

Tim, it does kinda look like a late 199 series frame, although a bit
modified. It seems that the modification / construction was made by an
Austrian company, more or less with the blessing of the factory, as the
flier is printed with their logo and address. Another dead duck I guess...

You might want to try these guys for the silencer. I think the Circle F stuff is

I'm assembling a basket-case M104. If anyone has one I need to see a
photo of the rubber-mounted bracket just behind the footpeg.

Also, I need a silencer for it. I'll probably wind up finding a
universal silencer about a foot long and just weld it to the pipe. But
if anyone has the correct one, I'll buy it.

We're trying to be ready for Diamond Don's AHRMA National this year and
while I'll be riding my trusty Alpina in the trials, the M104 will be
Krista's first motocross ride. What a way to start, riding a National

That bearing cone looks like a standard Timkin taper bearing that is
available from McMaster Carr as a set.
If the cup is 52mm OD and the overall is 16.25mm when asembled as a
set. (25mm id x52mm od x16.25mm length)
www.mcmaster.com
Part # 6677K57
I use McMaster Carr all the time for work and home toys.
If the bearing overall axial length is a bit too long you can have
the cup shoulder relieved to set deeper in the frame head.
