Mike thanks for the offer. I have the lobito points setup ready to go
on the bike, but have been gone trials riding twice in the past week.
Summer trials season is pretty hectic at the moment. Cota is even
having trials events on wednesday nights. I am too tired and broke to
go to Spokane. Have fun there. I think I'll putz around the garage and
get this Bultaco running this weekend, and have anice nap. --- In

I just want something cheap to make the bike run until this guy comes
back from his summer sabbatical and fixes this one. You can imagine I
dislike having a bike sitting around here that I've spent all this
money on and it won't run? So looks like points ignition will get it
going until things happen with the existing ignition. I'll buy myself
some time to get it done. --- In

What exactly is the problems with the electronic ignitions? Who have you been
ordering
parts from?

I think you order the flywheel puller based on the type of ignition. I have both
and if you
can wait a couple days you can borrow them. Don't get medieval with the gear
puller...

They went to electronic on the Pursangs for a reason. Guys like Chuck and Gary
will need
something that can take the excessive revs, whereas I would do just fine with
points. :-)

I've spent the past week in motoplat hell. Ordering incorrect
flywheel puller, buying digital caliper so I can figure out that I
need a 26MM flywheel puller, not the 27mm. Still haven't got the
flywheel off, but I have in my paddies a complete lower point type
ignition for a 125 Lobito. I am hoping to put a point type ignition
on the Pursang so it will run consistently. Two Bultacos failed at
Chehalis this year. Chuck Sun's and Gary Pomeroys. Points would have

I haven't dealt with any of the Bultaco suppliers, but I have dealt extensively
with CZ suppliers and one thing I've observed is that most of them (CZ
suppliers) are one man operations and they have a hard time answering and/or
returning phone calls, what with working on motors, researching parts, pulling
parts etc. I have found that sometimes faxing your order in to them with bike
model number, year, displacement and the parts numbers of the parts you need, so
they can pull and price the parts when they have a spare moment works well. I
have also seen the aggravation when someone has them pull a lot of parts off the
shelf, and write up an invoice only to get told, "Oh never mind I can get that
stuff a few dollars cheaper at Joe's CZ shack". Not that this applies to you,
but if you understand where they are coming from, it helps me to be patient when
they don't answer the phone, or aren't prompt at returning calls. My 2 cents.

Here is a site that has pics of many models. The
one of the 146 isn't in prime shape, the 145 pic
looks better. In each the cases are polished
(preferably) aluminum and the cylinder is painted
black with a natural (blasted) aluminum head.

Hey Ronnie,
Recovering great and getting closer to normal ! I should be ready to start
riding easy in a couple of weeks--just in time to do testing on my nearly
finished TM125L--lookin' good!
Planning on going to the Albuquerque AHRMA race, but will not race until the
AVDRA season opener in late Sept.

You have any new projects or races coming up?

Hello David:

   I have a garage full of Alpinas. I have two m-99, one 85 and a 98. I am ready
to start putting one of the 99s together, and will restore the running 85 soon.
I've found many sources of parts that I will gladly share with you. But I'm no
where near MI, I live in New Mexico.

Take care and good luck with you project.

Seal the tank. I assume you saw my extensive research documented in my blog?

First trial next year is usually Madras/Crooked River. So you have time.

Dave, the bike is loosely assembled and I doubt it will get much
attention until this winter. I need a muffler, triple tree for normal
handlebars, air filter assembly, cables and wiring. Also anyone know if
the new Sammy Miller fiberglass tank needs to be lined?

Project? It runs, don't it? Slap a muffler and some tires on that bad boy and go
riding!

Goldendale is coming right up and then Chehalis (don't forget the trials school
on Friday!).

I have no clue what the differences are. Can't be much. The bike will
be a project and the shocks are wrong no doubt. lots of stuff needs to
be changed but how cool a project is this one? I rode trials in the
early 70's on a 1967 Matador and always wanted another one. Bultaco
advertised the Matador as a trials bike/enduro mount. I saw this bike
at Dino Daze this year and saved a few pennies to buy it.

That rear shock looks like it has 18in of travel.

What are the differences between the M4 and M10? Frame and geometry the same?

At least you won't be in the Modern Classic class or else I'd have someone else
pushing
me down in the rankings.

btw, start planning for Donner next year.

Ha Ha Ha. The model 4 I bought is a model 10 replica thing. Star burst
head, 4 speed, Sammy Miller tank etc. etc.

Did you fail to mention those details in the previous email? I think so...

Now can I chastise you for not posting pictures yet?
