Hello Vu,
Congratulation to you and The Crew for this momentus change. Though I was not in attendence yesterday my vote in absentia -and after-the-fact- is a resounding "yay" !!!

Even if I only make one match per year I will look forward to being a proud Member of the NCPPRC. Will await further instructions.

Congratulations again!

Gentlemen,

For those that were there yesterday this will be redundant
information.

Yesterday it was decided to bring the Tactical Long Range Rifle match
under the NCPPRC umbrella.

FSC will be requiring all clubs to carry their own insurance policy
if they choose to operate under their own names/identities. The
other option would be to turn over all assets and control of funds
completely over to FSC and dissolve NCPPRC.

We had 39 shooters yesterday and a majority of them were regulars
that shoot our matches on a monthly basis. It was voted on
unanimously to put the Long Range Tactical Bolt Rifle match under the
NCPPRC umbrella. Shawn and I truly thank you guys for the support.

I have already contacted the NRA and received a proposal for a
liability insurance policy that will cover up to 100 members that
decide to join NCPPRC. When we do sign up for this policy it would
also make us an affiliate gun club of the NRA. I plan to have this
policy in place within the next 30 days.

There will be a 40.00 fee per year membership to join NCPPRC so that
we may cover any expenses that are involved with the insurance policy
and operations cost. However there are perks with being a member.

1. As a member you will be covered under the NCPPRC umbrella for
liability during our events.
2. Club members will shoot Long Range matches for 15.00 vs.
20.00 and Steel matches for 20.00 vs. 25.00. The months where we
shoot range steel the fee will be 15.00 for club members as well.
20.00 for Non.
3. Participation in Group Buys on items such as bullets,
primers, powder, and other shooting related items and supplies.
4. If a monthly shoot fills up club members will have priority
on the rosters.
5. We plan to start doing BBQs after the long range matches
during the months with good weather. Club members will participate
for free. There will be a small fee for non-members.

I will post a membership application form in the next few weeks. In
the next 30 days Shawn and I will try to get the following things
done:

1. Get a PO Box for NCPPRC (most of Northern CA knows where I
live now)
2. Open up a bank account for the club so that we can transfer
all club funds over.
3. Start the paper work to turn NCPPRC into a Non-Profit Corp.
I know a few of you guys are looking into this for us. Please let me
know what you find out ASAP.
4. Finalize and get the NRA insurance policy.
Shawn and I spoke last night and we both are truly thankful for the
support you guys have given us over the past 2.5 years. With your
help I believe (David Kerley pointed this out) that we are the
biggest organized group of tactical long range shooters on the West
Coast hands down.

Please feel free to post any comments or concerns if you guys have
any. This is an open forum so fire away. We will do our best to
address any concerns or questions.

Hey Vu,

Just to give you a heads up, Right now my work schedule changes monthy. I am at the mercy of the SGT in charge (no seniority, damn it!). I have signed up for the NorCal Match, but I may have to cancel. I won't really know until just before the May 31st cancellation deadline. I will let you know as soon as I find out one way or another. If I do have to cancel and then later find out I'll be off work, I will still show and just lend a helping hand, I doubt you'd turn away free help....:-)  Talk to ya later bro.

I feel bad missing so many matches, but with the new job change I gotta stick to my priorities right now......but I haven't lost interest by any means! :-)

Chuck,

Thank you for the note.

As for NCPPRC going backwards that will be a negative.  Shawn and I both want and will move forward to further grow the club and discipline.

Cowboys have their own insurance already and consider themselves seperate from FSC.  They belong to SASS and have their own board for each of their clubs, 6 total.

IDPA and IPSC, 3 GUN will basically break off and do their own thing as well.

In order to fall under FSC we would have to hand over complete control of our assets and funds.  Shawn and I both pretty much agreed that option is a no go.

The tactical long range monthly match is one thing but NCPPRC is entirely built from the ground up by Shawn, our supporters and myself.  The only thing FSC owns is the rail road ties our storage box sits on.  Our club has been funded out pocket by Shawn, our supporters and myself.  We have thousands of man hours and dollars invested.

We will incorporate and be our own club.  Besides our logo is way too cool.  LOL

Guys -

I am sorry that you guys didn't get the results you wanted out of the
elections. But you did get their attention, the personal letter I
(and I'm sure everyone else) received was evidence of that. Perhaps,
you can get what you are looking for easier now, or at least be heard
better. I fully admit to not being up on all the issues, so I may
just be talking out of my butt....

I was also sorry to hear that the NCPPRC is going to have to make
some major choices to be able to use the club's facilities. Is there
a way to move backwards a bit so that the group is treated more like
the Practical Pistol and Cowboy Action groups? I get the impression
they are more like sanctioning bodies for the competitions, rather
than separate clubs with officers, dues, etc. Again, I am only able
to occasionally partake of the good work Vu and you other guys do, so
there may be more at stake here than I am aware of. But I do know
that trying to find another place to shoot within the radius of the
Club to Sacramento is pretty much out of the question. Again, is
there a compromise that might work? I am looking forward to trying
my shaky hand at the silhouette shooting on the second Saturdays of
the month...

As a side note, I'm not able to get into the web site forums anymore,
for some reason. Most importantly, I don't remember my username or
password! That might have something to do with it. If one of the
sysops for the forums could get in touch, I'd appreciate it.

Hang in there - when shooting becomes too political, it stops being fun!

Si, muchos gracias to Dave and Rob. I hope you're right, Vu, and the current board will start moving in the "right" direction after this election.

Gentlemen,

First off I would like to thank Dave Davis and Rob Thomas for their
efforts in this year's election. These men put their asses on the
line and stepped up to the plate. A lot talk while a very few put the
rubber to the road. The men mentioned below were also apart of this
effort.

Mike Brady - President
Shane Parker – Sgt at Arms
Craig Saint Claire – Vice President

I would like to also thank those that came out tonight to support
those running against the current board and those who took the time
and effort to vote in this year's election.

390 some odd votes were counted. It came down to about 54% to 46%.

Unfortunately 54% of the votes did not go our way. The group we
supported did not win's tonight's election. However they did bring
many things to light and have given life to Folsom Shooting Club's
membership as a whole. This was the biggest election EVER in FSC
history. Once again thank you to all of you that supported this
effort.

I have some more news that directly impacts our club drastically.

At last month's BOD meeting it was made known that since we (Nor Cal
Practical Precision Rifle Club) identifies ourselves as a separate
club the match directors (Shawn and I) are not covered under the FSC
insurance umbrella.

Two suggestions were made by some of the board members at this time:

1) Fall inline with FSC and dissolve our club. Turn over complete
control of our club funds and assets.

2) Get our insurance and incorporate our club so that we are a
completely separate entity from FSC (Folsom Shooting Club).

Shawn and I have discussed this situation at length and have decided
to go with the later. I am currently looking into a 1,000,000 to
2,000,000,000 insurance policy sold by the NRA.

Bottom line is Shawn and I have worked too dyam hard and put too much
work into this organization to just hand it over. All of you that
have supported us over the last 2.5 years have put in your efforts
and time to support NCPPRC. We were going to go this route in a few
years as NCPPRC grows but now we have been pushed to move ahead with
our schedule and plan for our club.

What does this mean for you guys as shooters? Honestly men I have
some ideas but will not proceed without going over these thoughts
with out group as a whole.
After the next long range match on May 4th we will have a BBQ lunch
and a meeting to discuss this situation. For those of you that want
to have some input I suggest you show up to the next match.

Subject: New Scoring Policy for Long Range Tactical Matches
pthfndr

After talking it over with the other match directors we will be
instituting a new scoring policy at the May match due to the number of
people who call or email later at night or even the day after to say
their score was incorrect. That has to stop.

The SCORING CHALLENGE PERIOD.

1) After the match when the score sheets are collected, the head score
keeper (and his helpers) will double check the math on the five (5)
top scores, and log all the scores.
(While they are doing this the rest of us will pack everything up and
head for the Pole Barn)

2) ALL the score sheets will then be handed back to the
competitors.

3) The CHALLENGE PERIOD starts. This will be at the Pole Barn and last
10 minutes.
     a) During the challenge period it is the competitors
responsibility to double check the math on their score sheet. To check
it against their target if they choose.
     b) If a competitor finds an error in the score, they are to bring
it to FRED or ROB, who will double check it with them. If the score is
in error it will be changed.

4) At the end of the 10 minute challenge period it will be announced
the challenge period is over.

5) At that time ALL scores are final and the top 5 will be announced.

If you leave early and go home, stand around BSing, etc, and do not
check your score sheet until after the challenge period is over - TOO
BAD. The scores stand. Don't call or email one of us (mostly Vu) to
say your score was wrong. You'll have had a chance to see it and get
it corrected at the match.

Before anyone complains about this let me just say - Don't. The High
Power community has been doing this for as long as I've been shooting
and no one has a beef with it. The HP guys do not score for
themselves, someone else does it. The shooter then has to sign their
score card before it's turned in saying they accept the score. And
they still get to have a challenge period once the scores are posted.
