After talking it over with the other match directors we will be
instituting a new scoring policy at the May match due to the number of
people who call or email later at night or even the day after to say
their score was incorrect. That has to stop.
The SCORING CHALLENGE PERIOD.
1) After the match when the score sheets are collected, the head score
keeper (and his helpers) will double check the math on the five (5)
top scores, and log all the scores.
(While they are doing this the rest of us will pack everything up and
head for the Pole Barn)
2) ALL the score sheets will then be handed back to the
competitors.
3) The CHALLENGE PERIOD starts. This will be at the Pole Barn and last
10 minutes.
a) During the challenge period it is the competitors
responsibility to double check the math on their score sheet. To check
it against their target if they choose.
b) If a competitor finds an error in the score, they are to bring
it to FRED or ROB, who will double check it with them. If the score is
in error it will be changed.
4) At the end of the 10 minute challenge period it will be announced
the challenge period is over.
5) At that time ALL scores are final and the top 5 will be announced.
If you leave early and go home, stand around BSing, etc, and do not
check your score sheet until after the challenge period is over - TOO
BAD. The scores stand. Don't call or email one of us (mostly Vu) to
say your score was wrong. You'll have had a chance to see it and get
it corrected at the match.
Before anyone complains about this let me just say - Don't. The High
Power community has been doing this for as long as I've been shooting
and no one has a beef with it. The HP guys do not score for
themselves, someone else does it. The shooter then has to sign their
score card before it's turned in saying they accept the score. And
they still get to have a challenge period once the scores are posted.
