I think I have a volunteer who is a Westwood Alumni,
and a Past UT player as well. I'll keep you posted.
Are you coming doen after school tonight? It is
quite a drive for a scrimmage.

Westwood High School would deffinately appreciate a coach.  Actually, we'd be overjoyed to have one.  One thing to be considered, Westwood High School is located in north Austin.  This is awesome, thanks.

Can I have a head count of who is planning to be at
Travis High School tomorrow? Play begins at 4:30 and
goes until 6:00.

Travis High School is at 35 and Oltorf, just south of
Riverside Drive. We will play on the outfield of the
baseball field. Exit Oltorf, stay on the service road
through the light and turn right into the parking lot
just after Denny's, the field will be on the left.

For complete directions and a map, go to austinisd.org
and look at the list of schools. Click on Travis
High, and you can see a map to the campus. We will
have a new team at Travis High. Let's show these new
players a fine example of Austin High School Ultimate.
COME PLAY, and be ready to welcome a new player to
AAHSUL.

Peace,
Bubba

GREAT!

If RB captained a team last season, lets gie more high
school team together for this season. It would be
great if we could have a league where y'all play
against each other. I'll alert the league director.
Let's see how many high school teams we can get.

Captains...can you check with your players and see who
can play in the Fort Worth League?

Let me know if you have a team---reply to this post if
you think your team can play!

What are you doing this afternoon?

We have been invited to show our presence at Keep
Austin Weird between noon and five pm at Auditorium
Shores. I think this is a great opportunity to show
the city of Austin that we need field space. The
more players we can rally, the better it could be for
all of Austin Ultimate.

WE have been given the entire field space between
Lamar Blvd and the WEIRD ZONE that has been set-up to
corral the kids. It is my vision the discs are
flying in all of that space! I checked out the field
area, and it is pretty rough, but I am sure we could
set up small games of hotbox, double disc court, four
on four or boot in the safe places. I hope that all
of Austin Ultimate will wear an Ultimate jersey and
show our presence at KEEP AUSTIN WEIRD. Bring plenty
of water and some shade...let's RALLY!

Also, we have been granted a small space in the Weird
Zone to play with kids between 1 and 3pm. High school
players should gather in the WEIRD ZONE at 12:45. WE
will play a game to show our sport. Bring a light
and a dark shirt---if you have a team jersey, that
would be great. Bring a clean shirt, you are role
models for our younger kids. Make sure there is no
advertising for alcohol or other things inappropriate
for kids. When younger players come by and want to
play, we can take a moment to teach a little bit and
get them playing ten minute games.

Thanks to those who have been volunteering to get
things going with Austin Parks and Rec, Youth
InterACTIVE, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of
America. We are still looking for volunteers to coach
AISD middle and high school teams on a regular basis.
Background Check and training will be held at 7pm-9pm
at Travis High School on Thursday September 1st.

High School players will gather to organize from
4:30-6:30 pm at Travis High on Thursday, September 1st
as well. So, come early if you want to meet some of
the players who are pioneering High School Ultimate in
our city.

Peace,
Bubba

Is the Ultimate tournament that we are hosting for
middle and high school players on Sunday August 28th
at the Riverside Home field.

Teams of Five are playing five games to five on mini
fields. Youth InterACTIVE is also hosting a five on
five soccer and flag football tournament
simultaneously. I expect six teams, although we have
field space for many more. Not too many teams have
early registered.
Houston players have dropped out.

Austin High
Anderson High
LBJ High (two teams)
Westwood High
St. Francis(MS)
Kealing(MS)

Kids from other Austin Middle School and the Boys and
Girls Clubs have been invited to play as well.

I was asking for volunters to help supervise fields,
because alot of kids who have never played are playing
this weekend.

So far, I have these volunteers:
Hunter and Bill will help set-up fields. Tom says we
can use his cones.
Cheng and Richard will help with onsite-registration.

Attached is the registration form if you know any
middle or high school players.

I don't know anything about NY vs NY...

Peace,
Bubba

am counting Westwood as in, but have no forms.  I
talked to David. Do we have Dallas Teams in?
Houston, are you coming up???

Please complete the registrations (we need signatures
on the waivers) and bring them with you on Sunday.
It is getting too late to put them in the mail,  but
we have field space for at least eight teams in the
high school division, maybe even 12 teams, depending
on theMS players who sign up.   Get your teams
together and let me know.  Send an e-mail to
txultimate@yahoogroups.com, if you plan on coming and
bringing a team.

I have heard that Middle school players are coming
from Kealing and St. Francis.  I have some sixth
graders coming from Barton Hills and some new players
are coming from the Boys and Girls Clubs. Looks like a
four team division.  More is better!

Don't forget pick-up on Saturday in the Weird Zone.
Come to Auditorium Shores at noon...or anythime
thereafter.  We will play all day (Noon-five).

Come play pick-up at Auditorium Shores on Saturday,
August 27th. We are trying to get AS MANY players as
is possible to show Austin how WEIRD Ultimate is! I
have many kids of all ages coming to pick-up and we
need leadership on each field. They are giving us
the space from Lamar to the Stevie Ray statue to set
up playing fields. The fields are kind of rough, but
there is alot of space there for us to play some
gentle pick-up for all of AUSTIN to watch.

ALL ARE Welcome from noon -5pm. The 5K starts at 3pm
for those who are interested in running, you must
register for the race through RUN-TEX. However,
there is no registration for Saturday Pick-up. COME
PLAY, EVERYONE who is Ultimate!

Texas, Ultimate! is being recognized as a new WEIRD
company in Austin, thanks to the dedicated
volunteerism of a few folks. Throughout the summer we
have been spending time teaching Ultimate through
YouthInterACTIVE, Austin Parks and Rec, and the Boys
and Girls Clubs of America. THANK YOU!

CALL for Austin After-School Committment:

Youth InterACTIVE is sponsoring an intramural league
through the AISD and we are in need of qualified
coaching staff. If you are willling to volunteer,
please plan to attend training at Travis High School
on Spetember 1st from 4-8pm AND respond to
txultimate@.... We are in need of middle and
high school Ultimate coaches. Youth InterACTIVE
requires completion of an application and background
check, and will accept volunteers on an asneeded
basis. We are starting with a few schools this year
and will add more as the program develops.

Peace,
Bubba

Let me clarify that, Anderson plans to have a team there on Sunday the 28th, working on getting all the forms and fees together. We definitely have five players.  We are still waiting to hear if guys can make it for Saturday’s pick-up game and will get back to you.

HEY MIDDLE and HIGH SCHOOL ULTIMATE PLAYERS!

Youth InterACTIVE is planning a music and sports
festival as a fundraiser at Festival Beach, so August
28th (Sunday) is a go!
Teams of five (four on the field at a time), games to
five, five games between noon and five. I have
attached the registration form. Each player needs a
signature from their OWN parent or guardian. You can
form your own teams, or register individually. Come
Play FABULOUS FIVES! Although School has started,
summer fun is still to be had in Austin!

ALSO, We are hosting a pick-up game on Saturday August
27th betwen 9am-12noon at Auditorium Shores. New
players and experienced players are welcome to come
and play. We'll have UPA coaches there to provide
leadership and instruction. No registration is
required for Saturday play. That day is and kind of
special because usually team sports are not allowed at
Auditiorium Shores. We are playing in conjunction
with the "Keep AUSTIN Weird" fundraiser.

Texas News...

For Austin players, September 1st will be a back to
school HS ULTIMATE Team event at Travis High. RSVP is
you want to bring a team to Travis HIGH on September
1st, then we'll plan accordingly.

For players in DFW, we are planning a fall event.
Presently we are searching for a location.

Houston players are attending the Youth Club
Championships in Blanie Minnesota on August 13 and 14.
Dedicated preparation is well underway. The team will
exhibit on August 6th at the HUC hat tourney.

Peace,
Bubba

Did you see the new post?
Now, we are trying to get some Riverside to go to
Houston for the Hat tournament. Erec Hillis responded
that he wanted to go to Houston and help the YCC team.
He is the only other player I have heard from.

I LOVE TEXAS!

Houston is hosting a HAT tournament on Saturday,
August 6th.
Go to the Houston Ultimate Community Website (HUC) and
get the details. http://houstonultimate.org. You can
register there.

Come to Houston, help us get ready for the YCC, and
PLAY the HAT! A hat tournament allows each player
to register individually and be placed on a randomly
on teams. You will meet and play with Ultimate
players from other cities.

We need parent drivers, as the Hat is 4-10 pm and will
require a late night drive for the return, or an
overnight stay which requires supervision.

PLAY the GAME....LIVE the SPIRIT!
ULTIMATE!

B.

The tournament is August 13 and 14.

Mark has rallied his team in Houston. WE WILL HAVE
TEXAS representation in Minnesota. St.Johns School
is in the HOUSE. Mark has recruited a roster of 14
players. Who wants to rally to Houston to help them
get ready? We can have a scrimmage on Saturday,
August 6. I am thinking of a 10 am start time to
allow for travel, yet it still will not be so hot.
Maybe a chalk talk after lunch in the afternoon
heat...and more scrimmaging when it gets cooler. We
can play until dark! Is anyone interested? Can we
arrange carpools? We need adults to drive us, please.
