Yeah, Kansas Ultimate!
Over a year ago, we organized a bid to go to Kansas
City for a High School Tournament. Erec hilis
actually got us a bid, and we were gona drive the 12
hours to get there!
When it came time to actually travel, we could not get
enough to committ to the trip. Are we ready yet?
We will help however I can, but in order to move up
to the next level, we need to become members of the
UPA.
FYI...
If you are not members yet. I strongly suggest that
you get your Ultimate Players Association membership
in December. (http://upa.opg). If you get membership
right now, it expires at the end of the calander year.
Although the membership is only $20, you would only
be a member for a month before you are asked to renew.
If you wait until December, your membership will be
valid for 2008.
Although it is not required, if you are members of the
UPA, we can sanction our league play in January with
our national governing body, and our state tournament
as well. Also, an increase in Texas Membership (and
sanctioned leagues) will help us get a bid to the
Youth Club Championship in August, 2008.
After attending the tournament in both 2005 and 2006,
we were denied this summer based on the fact that our
league play was not sanctioned and Texas kids were not
members of the UPA. See the Website (Ultimate
Spirit.org---look at the Team TEXAS page for more
information).
Due to the liability associated with minors playing,
travel requires certified coaches and UPA chaperones.
However, if you want to go to Kansas, LET'S GO! I
would be happy to sponsor and travel with a statewide
team made up of those interested in traveling for a
weekend.
Ultimate...
Play the Game, LIVE the SPIRIT!
Peace,
Barbara
