Austin Summer League registration is open   Message List

For Austin youths.

Summer League will be starting in 3 weeks. Info is given in the
attachment.

I would recommend Summer League to older high schoolers, the league
has had a few of them throughout the years, and the participants
enjoyed the league, learned a good deal of basic strategy and
their enthusiasm for the game grew afterwards. One can sign up
with a friend to be drafted on the same team.

I personally have reservation on recommending the league to younger
kids in middle school. Although there is always one or two who
joined every year. I do notice their participation tends to be
limited due to difficulty matching up with someone on the opposing
team. The league is primarily composed of adults. A parent or
guardian is always signed up alongside the child. I believe the
minimum age requirement is 10 years old (not exactly sure). If
you're considering joining, I would suggest to talk to your parents,
and have them or a guardian join the league along side. Also
please contact the league organizer (in the attachment) about specific
age requirements and restriction.

Hope to see a crowd of LBJ players among the new faces at league.

Richard Wong

**Sorry for any duplicate emails**

Hello former and, hopefully, future summer leaguers. Registration is up and
running. Any and all skill levels are welcome to play. Please register and
get ready for another fun and exciting summer of ultimate. The cost will be
$20, which includes a disc, 6 weeks of ultimate, a tourney on July 16th, and a
party to follow.

The format will be the same as last year. As always, it will be coed with an
optimum ratio of 4/3. There will be 2 separate nights of play with half of the
teams on Tuesday and the other half on Thursday. So when registering, choose
what day works best for you out of Tuesday or Thursday. If either day is fine,
just choose "Doesn't Matter." Also, please only put one person you would prefer
to play with and make sure it is the same name that said person used to sign up
with. It is hard for us to accommodate when more than two people ask to play
together.

The first days of play will be Tuesday, June 7th and Thursday, June 9th. The
games will start around 7 PM, so plan on being at the fields around 6:30 PM on
your night. There will be two games each night and play will be over around
9:45. All games and Tournament will be held at the UT Intramural fields at
51st and Guadalupe. After the 6th week of play, there will be a Tournament on
Saturday, July 16th and a party that night.

Also, we will need some volunteers to be captains. If you are interested please
email Matt Clark. Your basic duties will involve teaching the basics, making
sure everyone has paid their fee, and ensuring spirit of the game is kept up
and keeping the game fun. If you choose to be a captain, you will receive a
free disc and your registration fee will be waived.

Tell all your friends and loved ones. Registration will be up for two weeks
until May 31st. After that we will draft the teams and post them. We are
hoping to have a big group this year with a good mix of players on each team.
This is all dependent on how many women come out to play since the league is
coed. Last year, the biggest restriction was not having enough women to keep
the teams set up correctly. So please, spread the good word and let your
friends know about it so we don't have to cap registration. Sign up here:

Thanks,

Matt Clark
