Hey Everyone!

The biking season is about to kick off (provided we don't get TOO much snow
with this next storm). Many people's traditional favorite seasonal starting
event is the Ironman Bike Ride in Lakeville. The e-mail below gives details
including info about the impending deadline for a price increase.

Many members ride this ride (your choice of 30, 62 or 100 miles) and try to
meet up ahead of time so they can ride together. I won't be riding this
year as I'll be in Kentucky running a marathon, so I can't set up a meeting
place. But other folks should use the Yahoogroups' e-mail to set things up.


Just say:
who you are,
how far you're riding,
how fast you're riding (just use slow, medium, fast),
when you want to start riding, and
where you want to meet.

Group riding is always more fun! This ride is a favorite of mine and I'm
sad I'll be missing it.

Sometime soon springtime will arrive in Minnesota. Heaven knows we've all
been patient this year but enough is enough. A sure sign of spring is the

Routes of 100, 62 or 30 miles.

Pre-registration Cost: $30 Adults, Youth (17 and under) are free .
Day-of-Ride Cost: $45 Adults, Youth (17 and under) $20.

Deadlines for Pre-Registration are as follows:


On-Line Closes @ 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16
Mail-In Closes @ 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 14

On-Line Registration:

click on the ???Register??? tab at the top. Our website is also filled with
all your ride details.

Active.com handles our online registration and they do an excellent job. We
prefer you register online as it provides more accurate registration data
and excellent data management. It's safe, quick and easy.

Active.com has a service charge of 6.5% plus $1.00 for online registration
(for example on a $30 registration, this amounts to $2.95 in charges). To
offset this fee we have discounted $3.00 off the purchase of a Long or Short
sleeve Ironman t-shirt. This discount only applies to online registrants.

Mail-In Registration:

If you received a 2008 Ironman?? Ride Guide in the mail, you may fill out
the registration form (one form per rider - feel free to photocopy the form
if necessary) and mail it to us at the address on the form. Or you can also
print out the forms from our website.

Confirmation Newsletters with your rider registration number will be mailed
on Monday, April 21st to all pre-registered riders.


It's April and we should all be out biking :) Thanks for your great support
of the Minnesota Ironman Ride and our organization, Hostelling
International. You still have 19 days to train for the ride. Start today!
