Hey all,
Ya, I know you’ve received copies of the press release
telling you about tri night, but I wanted to go into more detail as to why you
will want to be there. Please note that I need to confirm a few rumors so
some of this may not be true. Here is what I’ve heard:
- Hunter Kemper vs David Thompson
sumo wrestling match. This is included with the ticket price.
Square off is at 6:50p.m sharp with lots of show boating when the doors
open. Don’t miss the triathlon sumo wrestler of the world
championship match! Pay per view is thinking of carrying this but it
won’t be in person and will cost $40 rather than $30 and doesn’t
include food.
- The food! My brother (the
chef in charge) wants to keep some things a secret. BUT there are
fantastic vegan options, no pasta (we usually get enough of that) and huge
variety. And if you like meat, we’ve got you covered
there. Chef Sartain said something about brining for 2 days before
smoking and I’m pretty sure he was referring to the food…
- Kevin O’Conner and
Jonny-J will be serving the food wearing tutus. This in itself makes
it all worthwhile.
- The banquet committee is committed
(can I use those words right together?) to making the night super fun and
streamlined. No long winded speeches this year or our sumo wrestlers
will take you out. We’ll stay on track, have fun, and get done
in time to hit the town hard.
- Free chair massage. I’ll
have advanced students and alumni there performing free chair massage
during the social hour.
- Discounted hotel rooms within
walking distance! Best Western (the one by the capital) is giving
sweet rates. Just call to book and say you’re with the MMA
Banquet.
That’s the low down. I can definitely confirm
numbers 2,4,5,6 and part of 3 (I think). Numbers 1 and part of 3 are
rumors that I think I heard from Bill Copenhagen and Art Jacobson. I did
hear that Art is the ref for the sumo match too. So maybe that needs its’
own number: 7. Art is the ref for number 1. And yes, you all should spend
a half hour in my head. It really is fun in here!
Disclaimer: If you would like to stop receiving e-mails from
Jeremy it’ll never happen. Just deal with it. If you have
questions, comments or concerns, please contact your local authorities.
If you want a hell of a good time on Saturday, Nov. 15th, go to www.midwestevents.com and sign up
already! Oh, free hammer gel to those that attend. That’s
number 8. Number 8 is confirmed and true. I love coffee…
