Members of the Mayhem RFC,
It is my duty to let you know that Jason Walker, our current head
coach has chosen to step down from his position for the remainder of
the season. Many personal & family issues have contributed to this
decision. On behalf of the board & membership of Mayhem I gave Jason
our deepest thanks for his role in helping the team form & grow from
its very inception. His commitment to our team & it's purpose has
been exemplary. Jason is still a member in good standing of Mayhem
RFC. And is should the board & membership desire it, eligible for a
position on the board in 2006 as a community member.
If things lighten up for him in the spring he may request the board
send him to coaching clinics held by the MN Rugby Union. This will be
decided in the New Year. In the mean time we will be working more
closely with members of the Valkyries as well as Anthony our big bad
prop & assistant coach.
On a personal note: I am reminded of our first night we practiced on
the Henn. Ave Bridge. 16 degrees, 30 mph wind, dark & icy. Few of us
even knew how to hold a ball properly. Jason was there, guiding
us, and teaching us about the sport he loves.
Look at Mayhem today. Pretty damned impressive. And much thanks for
that goes to Coach Walker. Our teacher, friend & brother in Mayhem!
