Re: training to keep up when practices aren't available   Message List

Okay guys, here we go :

So yeah, I wanted to be a part of this team as a player, but since
I'm moving to Seattle in a little over four months for graduate
school. . that has changed some things. I was also invited to join
the Eastside Banshees over a month ago, so I'm part of _their_ team
at the present (which is why _I_ can't get to Wednesday
practice/camaraderie either).

In any case, I'm still here and I'm trying to help:
--I've contacted the YWCA downtown (Nicollet & 12th) & midtown (Lake
Street & Hiawatha). While the downtown YW has no weekday evening
availability (they're trying to make sure there is a balance between
member=use and rental-group-use), they do have Sundays open. Rental
rate is $42/hourly for tax-exempt and $50/hourly for all other
groups. An on-going contract would discount those numbers more. The
midtown hasn't called me back yet (and yes, I've done follow-up ;-)
--I've also contacted Sabathani Community Center (38th St. S & 3rd
Ave. S.) because I know one of the staff. Their general gym rental
rates are $35/hourly. They too have not called me back, and I've
done follow-up.

Yes, yes, lengthy post. I've been withholding, yadda yadda yadda.
BUT THERE'S MORE!!

So in wanting to step up and help where I can, I'd like to offer a
Sunday afternoon physical training session for those that can't make
it to Wednesday evenings. I know a lot of the potential team players
haven't really had much opportunity to get into the rhythms of the
sprint/backpedal/jog/etc. necessary for rugby. As a fitness
instructor and part-time trainer I can offer that up for those that
want to use it. 'sides, if _I'm_ training with an existing team,
then I can pass along a lot of the drills to the new players.

For what it's worth,
--Mikhail Tatrin
