Did anyone realize that the OKC Memorial Marathon is on the same day?
It would be nice if events were not scheduled on the same day.

Would like to know if any people are interested in becoming a USA Cycling
Official!
It has been proposed that we conduct a clinic for those interested in
Officiating bicycle races. A centrally located venue will be chosen after we
learn of those interested. Please contact me if you or anyone you know is
interested. It takes pretty much of a day to complete, but after completing and
paying the license fee, you will be qualified to officiate at a USA Cycling
sanctioned race. The proposed date for this is March 6th ,2004. Let me know if
you or someone you know might be interested. Thanks,

We have four or five very respectable smallish framed bikes that we are
making available for young riders who may have an interest in road racing or
multiports cycling activities this coming season

These bikes have been all been rebuilt and generally upgraded component wise
and are in some respects, better bikes than when they were new

These bikes will be maintained by the shop at no cost to the riders in return
for a commitment to do some modest training and have fun!

Serious Inquires, questions, etc, off list please

Hi everyone,

I need to get rid of a few things around my garage;

2002 Dura-Ace 9-Speed STI Lever Set. Used for 2 Seasons. They are scraped up
from racing. Still works pretty well. $90.00

2002 Dura-Ace 9-Speed Cranks. 39-53 172.5mm Splined. Used for 2 Seasons. The
"Dura Ace" logos on the sides of the crank arms are worn off. 53 chainring
almost brand new(thanks to junior gear restriction). Other than signs of wear,
good condition. $90.00

2002 Dura-Ace 9-Speed Rear Derailleur. For a double chainring set-up. This
thing has A LOT of use. $20.00

2002 Ultegra 11-23 9 Speed Cassette. Pretty good condition. Sits on wheels I
never ride. $20.00 (if you want another gear ratio, ask me, I probably have
it).

Rolf Vector Comp Wheel-Set. Red. Shimano 8/9 freehub. Used for race/ fast
training wheels a couple of years ago. Used condition but still work well.
$160.00

Rolf Vector Comp Wheel-Set. Blue. Shimano 8/9 freehub. Used for cyclo-cross
wheels. Still in Good condition. $180.00

Need the money to pay for new stuff.

The St. John Indoor Triathlon will be held on January 16 and 17. TAT helps
sponsor this race.

Teams will compete on the evening of Friday, January 16. Individuals will
race on Saturday, January 17. If you're not going to race, please consider
volunteering for the event. The race will probably need volunteers in all
areas, including the swim, bike and run. This is a fun race to volunteer
for. Plus, you get to cheer on your friends. If you're going to compete,
please consider volunteering after your heat. Volunteers make the race.

Contact Monique Washington, race director, at 744-2484 or e-mail at
mwashington@.... Thanks for helping!

There is a well-organized group out of LA that brings BikeEd to the
public schools, Safe Moves. They move from school to school.

If you can get grant funding, Tulsa Public Schools would probably love
to have ya. 4th and 5th graders should get VC education.
Statistically, they are the ones dying the most.

Today's Tulsa World has the Tulsa Park's Spring 2004 Fun Guide as an insert.

On page 16 are the Kids BikeEd classes the Wheelmen are sponsoring at Hicks Park
(3443 S. Mingo Road). These are the classes in this month's Tulsa Wheelmen
Newsletter and on the Wheelmen website.

The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) Kids 1 course is the foundation course
of the LAB's Kids Education program. It is recommended that PARENTS complete
this course prior to their children participating in Kids 2. Children who
attend will receive helmets donated by the Tulsa Wheelmen, but they must have
their parents with them.

I am teaching this class and Tom Brown (Tom's River Trails) is going to be
on-hand to help with helmet fits. Tom is also brining a new children's bike as
an exhibit for the discussion on bike selection and fit for children. This
class is being fully subsidized by the Tulsa Wheelmen in partnership with Tulsa
Parks and is FREE to participants. The class is being offered twice in February
(the 14th from 1-3 pm; and, the 28th from 9:30 - 11:30 am).

The much longer LAB Kids 2 class is for children 9 - 14 and his heavily on-bike.
There are parking lot drills and rides on neighborhood streets. This class is
two hours daily (1 - 3 pm), M - Thurs. during Spring Break Week and is $40
payable to the Tulsa "Park Revenue Fund". Tulsa Parks has an on-line
registration option.

You do not have to be a resident of Tulsa to take one of these classes.

If anyone would like more information on either class, please email me.

Thanks,
Sandra Crisp

There was some talk going around just before the Tulsa Du sponsored by AARP
and/or Chris Brown wherein some young local rider was trying to find a runner
so he, the cyclist, could "take" the fastest bike split

Some who were aware of the story thought maybe..........but don't hold your
breath or take it the bank, yet!

I just ran across the result of the OK State TT (40k) held annually in Tuttle
(9/14/03)
and note that C Johnson's time as a Cat 4 was only beaten by two Cat 3's and
by not much!

It was sad to note that there appeared to be only 26 entrants and no Tulsa
riders or multisport participants, excepting only KORS Randall Clayborn of Sand
Springs

The shop is putting together a wheel building work shop that we would like do
maybe near the end of January

The focus is to provide "hands on" experience to the end of putting together
a well built functional set of wheels (as well as knowing how to maintain
existing wheels); the default components are something like Ambrosio rims on
Tiagra hubs, but anyone that wants to "shoot higher" may do so

10s Campi riders could utilize an American Classic 10s cassette on a Tiagra
hub for not more than pocket change, by Campi standard!

A spare set of competent wheels is really nice and really appreciated when
you need them!

I have put together an outline with specifics of how the workshop might
proceed, etc., that I will send to anyone interested as an attachment.

Those on this list who have already expressed an interest therein can
continue to ignore me, and enter via the back door so no one will see you!

Off list inquires please
