It's Not Too Late to Register for First Brick Session!

The first brick session of the season has just begun and it's not too late to register! You can either purchase sessions separately (pay as you go) or as part of the ALL-YOU-CAN-TRAIN package which is by far the greatest money saver.

We have greatly expanded our training programs for the 2008 season. Our BRIKPAKs are now THREE days a week (an increase from one day a week). Our cadre of professional coaches will lead our weekly runs and weekend rides. In addition, we have designated a few races as our Main/Primary Races (see our calendar announcement for details).

We are also introducing a new pricing tier:
The TANYC ALL-YOU-CAN TRAIN Package.

With this package, which includes membership, you can purchase all of our BRICKPAKs, weekly rides and runs year-round, and also get our great benefits for the low price of $300. You will receive a high quality racing singlet or jersey too! The ALL-YOU-CAN TRAIN package gives you the most cost effective means to get our programs in a flexible way.

Already a member and want to upgrade to the ALL-YOU-CAN TRAIN Package? Click the link below to upgrade.

The ALL-YOU-CAN TRAIN package offers:
o ALL Three BRIKPAKS (9 weeks at 3 days a week each. $140 each if purchased separately under the PAY-AS-YOU-GO package)
o FULL MEMBERSHIP ($60 if purchased separately)
o Our weekly runs and bikes (from late Jan.-Nov. at least once week. $100 if purchased separately)

For those who want to buy a la carte, you can still purchase our various programs separately (BRIKPAKs, weekly rides, runs, membership, etc) under our PAY-AS-YOU-GO packages. These packages are only available to TANYC members.

Looking for Inspirational Athletes

If you live for the thrill that the tri-world brings, we want you to share that enthusiasm. We're looking for dedicated, accomplished athletes who can serve as motivators, educators and role models. Being a mentor to a less experienced athlete requires very little of your time. It usually only involves answering a few questions by email or over the phone. And the little time you can spare will mean a lot to an up-and-coming athlete who wants to be guided by the best.

For more information, send an e-mail to tanycinfo@....

I'm doing Escape from Alcatraz on June 8th and need a full-sleeved
wetsuit. The one I have is sleeve-less and apparently my arms will
turn into icicles and get bitten off by sharks if I wear it.

Does anyone have one I could borrow? Let me know if you can help out!

Thanks,
Aileen

Is anyone interested in sharing car rental/gas expenses to go up to
Lake Placid the weekend of June 20th? Or if someone has room in their
car it would be great--I'll pay for gas (it's for me and my bike, both
are small and won't take much room).

I'd be also interested in splitting a hotel room.

I can leave Fri and come back Mon (I'm totally flexible).

Let me know if there are any takers!

Thanks!

Hi Inga!
I thought I recognized that email address.  How are you??  How's the training going?  I have my first race of the season this weekend, an olympic...just to get me warmed up.

Is there anything going on in LP that weekend?  I thought I had seen an email about something.

Fellow Endurance Athletes-

I just wanted to let you all know about a cool race starting tomorrow
(Thursday). If you run, ride, swim, paddle, or do all four then you
will certain dig this…

The Untamed New England 60-hr Adventure Race has 20+ teams of two to
four people competing to beat each other over three days of non-stop
racing. What's cool about it is that you can follow teams real-
time via GPS which we will have attached to ourselves (not able to
use though… we only get a map and compass!).

http://www.untamedne.com/Live/Race/Default.aspx

Confused about Adventure Racing? It is an awesome sport drawing
athletes from many disciplines. Check out Team Wicked Pissah's Web
Site to learn more about the sport:

For those of you who were unaware, it sprinkled a little during Ironman in Lake Placid.  As a result, since I was holding onto my handlebars for DEAR LIFE I've since been somewhat numb in my pinky and the outside part of my hand.   It's been over 2 weeks now.

Thoughts on when I might get the feeling back?  Anything I can do to expedite the process?

Want to improve your swimming before your next Tri?  Check out Brooklyn's newest masters swim team.  Well, not so much a new team as a modified team.  For the last two years we've been the Dodge YMCA Masters Team, but now that the Y has decided they don't want to continue with a masters team, we're moving on.

We are working on a deal with Long Island University to use their pool (at the corner of Flatbush and DeKalb) three mornings a week -- most likely Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:00 - 8:30 am -- and we hope to have that finalized soon.   Before we can do that, however, we need to make sure the team will have enough members to be able to survive.  So if you¢re interested in working out with us at LIU, please email either me or info@....

Workouts fees have not been finalized yet, but we anticipate they will be between $10 and $15 per workout, with discounts for those who pay for multiple workouts in advance.  All workouts will have an expert coach on deck, and at least one workout a week will be led by our head coach, Conrad Johnson, who is also the head coach of TNYA and the McBurney YMCA Masters Team.  You do not need to commit to anything, or send any money yet, but we need to know your level of interest as soon as possible in order to get this team started.

Sorry for the late response, but for some reason I just got this message today.

Are you still interested in swimming with the Brooklyn Masters Team?  We just started our workouts at LIU this week, and the new pool is working out great.  If you want to join us, the best thing to do would be to contact our head coach, Conrad Johnson (cjswim007@...) to get your name added to the entry list at LIU.  You can also get a lot of info on our schedule -- generally Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings -- and prices at our website, http://brooklynswim.org/.

So if you¢re interested in working out with us at LIU, please email either me or info@brooklynswim. org.

Brooklyn Masters Swimming is on a special holiday schedule this week, and as a special holiday bonus, you can join us for a FREE trial workout!  The normal cost for a drop-in is $15, but this Monday and Tuesday you can swim with us at Long Island University from 7:00 - 8:30 am at absolutely no cost.  The only thing you need to do is contact our head coach, Conrad Johnson (cjswim007@... or 917-446-0595) to get your name on the security list at LIU.  YOU MUST HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO ATTEND YOUR FIRST WORKOUT.  After that, just show up at 6:45 at LIU (northwest corner of Flatbush and DeKalb, across the street from Junior's) with your suit, goggles, swim cap, towel and a lock.

For more info, contact me or Conrad, or check our our website at http://brooklynswim.org/

Brooklyn Masters Swimming is now on holiday break.  Morning workouts are done for the year, and will return on Tuesday, January 20.

In the meantime, we are adding some new evening workouts.  The workouts are still at LIU, and will run from 7:00 - 8:30 pm on the following evenings:

Monday, December 22

Monday, December 29

Tuesday, January 6
Thursday, January 8

Tuesday, January 13
Thursday, January 15

If these workouts are popular enough, we're hoping to add at least one evening workout per week to our regular schedule, so if you're interested in masters swimming but don't like getting up early, this is the time for you to try us out.  For more information, visit http://brooklynswim.org, or email info@....
