Even closer is the Manitou train station. It's an easy ride down Rte
9D to the Bear Mtn Bridge from Manitou, but then you have to ride all
through the park to get to the start of the tri, since you can't go
on the PIP. Also, the train might not get you there early enough.
There's another train, on the NJ/Rockland side of the river that will
get you to Harriman--check out the Port Jervis line. You get off on
Rte 17 and then ride up Seven Lakes Drive to get to the tri.
However, timing might be an issue with this train as well.
