I have to second the kudos for Cliff. Thanks for running the league. Very
smooth, files out on time every week, no problems within the league in any
way.
Dave

Subject: [TAFL] TAFL Super Bowl - Baltimore vs. Portland
The Baltimore Colts and Portland Red Dogs met for the TAFL title.
The teams had not played in the regular season. Portland received
the opening kick and marched down field and Nedney connected on a FG
to make it 3-0. The Colts responded on their first drive with an
Elam FG to tie it at 3. Portland came back with a TD on their next
drive and Baltimore answered with a TD of their own to knot the score
at 10-10 midway thru the 2nd quarter. The Colts defense stepped up
and forced the game's first turnover as RB Stephen Davis was stripped
of the ball at the Colts 33 yard line. Trent Green led the team down
the field and Clinton Portis dove into the endzone from 2 yards out
to give Baltimore a 17-10 halftime lead. This marked the first game
all season that Portland trailed at the half. The Portland defense
had not given up more than 20 points in a game all season and were
left a bit shaken trailing at the half.
The teams started the 2nd half with an exchange of punts before
Portland's defense forced the first Baltimore turnover. Glen Wesley
intercepted Trent Green but the Colts held the Red Dogs out of the
end zone. A Nedney FG made it 17-13 late in the 3rd quarter. A 2
score lead appeared to be insurmountable and Baltimore looked to put
the game away with a TD. Neither team could mount any offense and the
next 3 possessions (2 for Baltimore, 1 for Portland) resulted in
punts. Portland got the ball with 8 minutes to go and went on a long
drive and had a 1st and goal at the 6 yard line with 2:15 left and
trailed 17-13. The Colts defense held strong and a 4th down pass to
Isaac Bruce fell incomplete with 1:49 to go in the game. The Red
Dogs held the Colts to a 3 and out while using all 3 of their
timeouts and following the punt took over at the Baltimore 47 yard
line with 1:19 to go. Portland moved to the Colts 34 yard line with
26 seconds to go. On 3rd and 10 Brad Johnson connected with Isaac
Bruce on a 30 yard pass play to reach the 4 yard line. Portland
hustled to the line and quickly spiked the ball and had goal to go
with 7 seconds left in the game. A quick corner pass to Anquan Boldin
fell incomplete. There were now 3 seconds left in the game and
Portland trailed 17-13. Brad Johnson faded back and let loose. A
leaping grab by Isaac Bruce resulted in the winning TD.
Great game by Dave of Baltimore, game was a coin flip as the final
play decided the champion. It was basically click the mouse and see
who is the winner as Portland wins if the pass is complete and
Baltimore wins if it is incomplete. I could not have been too upset
if I lost as Dave deserved it just as I did.
