From: Jennifer ClarkeSubject: Fw: Fwd: Bothell's Ruiz-Costie/Northshore Pool may be at risk?Good morning everyone!I am sending this email to everyone I have in my email contact list that has had any contact with Northshore Pool or any pool for that matter in this area. If you have other email addresses in your contact list that you can forward this to, any little bit can help. Most of you know my Dad has been heavily involved in trying to save the pools in the area from being closed for many many years. He has been a part of the group working to save St. Ed's and now his latest endeavor is working on saving Northshore Pool. Most of you may or may not know that Northshore is slated to close in 2011. There is new information that it may now close as early as the end of this summer!!!Please read the full email chain below, which starts with the message about the new information popping up about the potential closing. Not only does this affect the synchro community that we have that utilizes this pool on occasions, but its home to Bothell High School and Woodinville High School swim team programs. If this pool goes away, most likely, so do those programs. Not to mention all of the other programs that the Northshore Pool houses. My Dad is asking for your help. He is asking for emails to be written or letters in support of the continuing operation of this pool. The only way the city will take this seriously is if they hear from it's users. My Dad's email is stuclarke@..., please feel free to email him any letters or just even your contact information. Thanks for your support!Jennifer

JenniferMight want to do somethings AND send this to all of your H.S. swim friends. Everybody is "bailing out" of the swim problems. Without current and past pool users "flooding" the owners/operators, there will be no pools. I know pools cannot fund on their own uses. It also takes outside funding support. If you and your friends could send me email and mail addresses, or phone numbers, I will be happy to do all the calling. If people want a sample email, or calling message, I would be happy to be the author. We cannot get institutions to support if the users themselves do not speak up.Thanks, Dad

The option for a second 5 year contract is at hand.
Today, my understanding, through other sources, is that NW Center has submitted a letter giving 30 days notice of their intent to
terminate their contract regarding operation of the pool. It's believed the City is looking for other companies to operate the facility.
More about this should emerge at the next (Bothell) Council meeting on July 14th.
Sounds like a meeting worth attending.
City of Bothell owns the property on which the pool sits, and will own the pool when the Forward Thrust bonds expire in 2011.
Effectively, with a NW Center departure, Bothell will own the pool.
I've emailed my NW Center contacts for clarification.
Tonight the following arrived in my email.

Subject: Northshore Pool (Bothell) to Close
"Found out today that NW Centers has pulled out of its contract to run the Northshore pool in Bothell which is
home to Bothell and Woodinville high school swim teams and meet pool for Inglemoor.
Pool scheduled to close by the end of summer. The Northshore SD is in danger of losing its entire swim program.
If you know any current or past students from these high schools, have them start contacting their school district to
keep the pool open."Moderator for (click to view):Check out (click to view)
