Dang, they way the laker's been playin as of
late, i've been watching more of the clips than the
lakes recently. hm...maybe that propoganda you shoved
into me in 7th grade is coming into effect...hehe
What's up with the Los Angeles Clippers? These
Clippers, who are playing much harder and with more
enthusiasm than the past Clipper teams, are now in their
usual mid-season form. Obivously, I stated time and
time again, that we need more help out there on the
floor. <br><br>Even though Alvin Gentry has been a good
coach for these young guys, I'm starting to question
his rotation format. Basically, what I'm saying is
that guys that should deserve to play, should play. I
certainly commend Coach Gentry for basically kicking Keith
Closs off the team, because he was under-conditioned.
It wasn't like Closs did anything for the Clippers
anyway, except stealing money. <br><br>I understand
Coach's premise that he doesn't want any negative vibes
around his team, which is why the likes of Closs and
Nesby are gone. He's a coach telling it like it is. The
Clippers are a very talented basketball team, but they are
also a under-sized, and sometimes over-matched team.
You have players that will play hard and try, like
Odom, Miles, Piatkowski, Parks, etc. Then, you have
Michael Olowokandi. <br><br>I think we have stressed this
point over and over again on how lethargic he is. He
seems to be a easy-going nice guy, but he lacks that
fire and passion that has driven the great players at
the center postition. Even though he has developed
his game a little bit, how much patience do us
Clippers fans have with the Kandi-ass? If the Donald can
open that checkbook, wallet, or whatever the hell he
keep his money, and spends his money and get an
established free agent star, or make a trade for someone that
will be signifigant, then the Clippers will be fine.
And, we all know the blame of the way this franchise
has been is all on Donald Sterling. <br><br>So, as
the Clips go on this road trip, let's have faith in
them, and most importantly, faith in themselves.
I read the headlines in this morning's Los
Angeles Times sports section, and I said, "Damn,
unbeliveable. Odom not playing tonight?"<br><br>The headlines
read: "Gentry Vows to Set an Example" and "Odom
Disappoints Clippers"<br><br>I was on the bus, going to work
this morning, and I seen some guy reading the L.A.
Times Sports page across from me, and I seen the
headline. So, when I got to work, and to my computer, I
went to latimes.com's Clipper section, and there it
was. I read the story stating that Lamar Odom may not
start in tonight's game versus the Seattle SuperSonics
at Staples Center. <br><br>It seems that Odom missed
practice yesterday because he and Keyon Dooling went to
Las Vegas for a trade show, after being asked by NBA
officals. Keyon made it back in time for the Tuesday
practice. Odom said he called team trainer Jasen Powell,
and said he was gonna be late. Coach Alvin Gentry,
who is to give Odom a fine of up to $2,500, has
expressed his disappointment of Lamar.<br><br>Gentry said,
"If (Odom) is going to be the leader on this team,
then he has to accept certain responsibilities. If
not, we are going to look elsewhere for
leadership."<br><br>This is probably the first time in recent memory that
a Clipper coach has exerted his authority quite
swifty. He fined Odom before, for missing the team plane
after the team played in Odom's hometown of New York
City. I say all power to Coach Gentry! It shows that
the Coach means business, and we all think that Lamar
is smart enough to learn his lesson, and forgive and
forget. That's what great team leaders
do.<br><br>*************************<br>In other stories, I was listening to a
sports talk
show the other night, and the host said that another
reason why Tyrone Nesby was sent packing was because he
would be a negative influence on the younger players.
That was in reference to Nesby getting into a
profanity-laced arguement with Washington Wizards head coach
Leonard Hamilton, about a bunch of stuff. It was pretty
much safe to say that Mr. Nesby wore out his welcome
in Los Angeles.<br><br>And finally, Ralph Lawler.
I've been asking here in the Clip Joint, and other
Clipper clubs on Yahoo! is the Bingo Man a Hall of Fame
broadcaster? By the responses I've gotten so far, the people
have said yes. It's true that Lawler tries and does
make the games interesting to watch. People are so in
love with the Old and Past His Prime Chick Hearn in
this town, people don't recgonize another living
legend (in my opinion) in Ralph Lawler. It's kinda of
sad, but once the Clippers get better, then the Bingo
Man will be more visible.
The General came out saying 4 years ago that he
never wanted to leave the Clippers and that he would
like to be the first Clipper to retire with them. You
guys do know we cant retire him though cause he's
still active with the Blazers. Vaught I dont think will
be as offensive as he used to due to his age and
after that back surgery but I know he's all heart and
his defense would still be there.
To Clipperfan: I'll be glad to contribute my
weekly editorials. I write a new one every Wednesday,
and to check the old ones, go to my Clip Joint page,
and check under "Messages". Also, I would appeciate
some feedback on my editorials. Thanks, and peace to
ya.
I agree, the Clips don't need to retire
Dominque's or Ron Harper's number. Nique was only here half
a season, and Harper has bad-mouthed the Clipper
organization, even though he was right. As a matter of fact, if
I'm not mistaken, nobody hasn't wore #4 since Harper
left. As for the General, why not retire his number 23?
I think that is a good idea. The Clippers need to
do something to honor Ralph Lawler.
For sentimental reasons, and because he would be
a great veteran presence, I would love to see Loy
Vaught back in a Clipper uniform. He should have never
left in the first place. I understood why he left,
with the team's losing ways and all. If can regain his
old form of 17 PPG and 10-12 RPG, then it would be
great. Just like I said before, Lamar needs helps, and
Loy would be that help, and it would be a great
one-two punch. Also, more than likely, it would be the
most consistent forward tandem in the Western
Conference, let alone the Pacific Divison. Peace.
I agree I'd rather have Vaught then Skinner or Strong, Vaught was always
consistent and he always provided rebounding ans a solid offence remember he was
our double-double man always.
Mr Clipper aka Loy Vaught does not like the team
he is in, the Mavs. Perphas we could get him in a
trade. skinner for vaught im in it. We get a vet also.
heck go with Strong and Skinner for Vaught. i wish
Ralph could say "Vaught from his spot!"
Dude what are you talking about quit sniffing glue Dominique Wilkins hell no he
retired last week with the Hawks remember when we lost that inspired game. We
should retire Gary Grant remember him?
Hi there fellow Clips fans,<br><br>I am a
hardcore Clippa fanatic from Germany !!<br><br>I am
already a regular poster on the ESPN Clips board ( aka
CLIPSinGermany !! ).<br><br>C´on young guns.....for the "W" in
the column against boston !! Would be indeed really
nice to set an end to the current "shabby" streak so
to speak !!<br><br>Plus, hopefully Lamar will
participate as an All-Star !! BTW, as I am afflicted by
geography so to speak....how are his chances ?? Anyone is
able to help me out on this one ??<br><br>That´s all
for the moment.<br><br>Later.<br><br>Once a Clips
fan.....Always a Clips fan !!<br><br>KS.<br><br>CiG.
I would'nt want Ron Harper retiring with us he bad mouthed our team the Hell
with him I would love to see Loy Vaught retire with us and of course the General
Grant. We cant forget Bob Macadoo
The Clippers have been though a lot over the
years, but I think they need to retire some
numbers<br><br>#32-Bill Walton<br>#35-Loy Vaught<br>#10-Norm
Nixon<br>#11-Randy Smith (I think it's #11)<br>#4-Ron
Harper<br>#52-Eric Piatkowski (when he retires)<br><br>Tell what you
think.
I am very happy in what I saw coach Gentry today.
Even though the game was about to be over, he still
called a time out and the Clippers turned a 10 point
game with 59.7 seconds to a 6 point game in less than
10 seconds. This made the T-wolves play a full game
and respect the Clippers even more! Coach Gentry
rocks man! Sorry for dissin' you before of the season.
Tomorrow's game will be aginist the Hawks, that's a easy
win. If the Clippers can win it will set a momentum
for the road trip.

i would love to find pics of the
Clippers<br>Spirit......i've searched the net and almost<br>found nothing!! i
wanted to look cuz a girl<br>i went to high school with
was on the squad<br>3-4 years ago and wanted to find
a pic of her<br><br>even the Clippers' website has
nothing :(<br><br>bri
I think the trade earlier this season was better than i thought. I remember
trashing Parks he went to the Clippers. Wow, he is good. 7-9 shooting againist
the Nuggets!
Congratulations on a great win. It looks like the
Clippers got some terrific perfomances from their
youngsters, including Richardson, Maggette, Miles, etc. Of
course, after the game I read that Shaq attributed the
loss simply to the Lakers' lousy performance, not
giving a whole lot of credit to the Clippers. Either
way, great win.
