one thing: don't let players pick who they want.
Shaq wanted a "thug" PF, so Lakers signed Rodman, who
screwed the team. Ask players for advice, fine. Don't let
them choose. And honestly clipperfan35, your lineup
will not improve the team to playoff chances. They
will win 20 games with that lineup. Here is what the
Clips can do:<br><br>C: Olowakandi (kareem would have
helped him improve in the summer)<br>PF: Kenyon Martin
or Marcus Fizer - good draft pick<br>SF:
Nesby<br>SG: piatkowski or something<br>PG: Odom<br><br>this
should work out well and might get Clips into playoffs
granted: 1) Kandiman HAS to improve. 2) Odom must become
more consistent. 3) the lottery pick can't have a
rookie season similar to that of Kandi.<br><br>With the
lineup with Odom, Kandi, and PF, Clips will have a three
way threat similar to that of Vancouver and Lakers.
Next season, with this lineup, they would be able to
maybe make or get close to playoffs.

The Clippers should get a SG. Odom will play the
PG, Closs plays the C, Nesby the SF, and Skinner the
PF. THE SG should be Odom's choice so he can have the
backcourt in the style he wants. <br><br>LATES&lt; PEACE

DA is getting older...he'd want a ring more than
a good salary...who do you think the clips should
draft? i like marcus fizer and kenyon martin...cuz we
need a pf to fill in for mo, or maybe a SF to let odom
play point...what do you guys think?

I'm a Cavs fan, but I've been following the
Clippers off and on since they traded for my Derek
Anderson. I haven't got a chance to see him play this year
(as the Clippers aren't on TNT or NBC very often),
but I'm very surprised about his stats. The only
thing holding Derek back in Cleveland was playing time.
I thought that once he started playing 35-36
minutes a game in Clipperland, that he would start
putting up All-Star type stats. I pictured him averaging
20 ppg, 6.5 boards, and maybe 4 assists a game. What
is up with him? Is he deferring his shots to Odom,
Nesby, Taylor or whoever else? <br><br>In any event,
props to the Clips. They will always be my favorite LA
team.

they are gone, sayonora. and next year the
clippers will have odom and a bunch of CBA players and
maybe a disgruntled 1st round draft pick who will
probably go to Europe and refuse to play like Danny
Ferry.<br>sorry to be cynical but, hey, this is what happens. I
would love to be positive and think differently but
they got to prove it.

unfortunatley, both mo and derek said they wont
sign with clips. thats the problem. I personally
thought clips would be 8th seed in the playoffs with all
their talent. at least we can build around odom, good
draft pick(maybe kenyon martin if hes not injured), and
maybe even kandi

glad to see this club back... no one posted any
messages except 1 or 2 other people... i didn't even post
anything cause i wasn't on much... but i think odom does
alot better at PG he's taller so he has the advantage.
nesby should start a SF and piatkowski could stay at SG
if he still has his game. he did great in the win
against the nuggets scoring a career high 31 points! he
pretty much need a center and a PF. sure skinner was
good when mo taylor was injured but he hasn't been the
same since his injury.. we just need 2 big guys at the
C and PF position. i say they should do a sign and
trade deal with mo taylor and DA. they should get
someone good out of those 2.

WHOO hOO!!! 2 wins in a row. that's was great.
Now, lets talk about the draft. THe Clippers have 3
draft picks. So they could pick up a few good players.
If the Clippers get the first pick, I say we go
after Kenyon Martin to replace Mo, He's a great player,
I've seen him play a few times. And with the other
picks we should try going after Ed Cota, DeMarr
Johnson, or Courtney Alexander. Any one of those players
are good, (I don't think I got the last guys name
right.)We wont be able to get all three but, I think we'll
get Kenyon Martin and one of those guys. This draft
seem to be a good draft like the 96' 97 draft with
Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Marcus camby, Kobe Bryant,
etc.

Man that was a big win for the Clippers. They
were down by 14 in the 4th and pulled it out. This
team is starting to come toghether. Maybe if they
would have come toghether sooner Mo and D.A. would of
considered staying. It is about time Pike had a game like he
is capable of doing. When his shot is on it makes
his game better because it allows him to drive to the
basket more often. The Clippers really need a point
guard. Sconnie Penn from Ohio St. looks to be the best
of the bunch. If they get screwed in the Lottery and
don't get the first pick like I suspect will happen,
they should trade it for a point guard. We also have
Atlanta's pick from the Lorenzen trade, but only if it is
not in the top seven of the draft. If we do get it, I
would like to see the Clips draft Eduardo Najera out of
Oklahoma. He is a tough S.O.B who can light up the
scoreboard, is a madman on defense and on the boards, and it
not affraid to put you on your ass if you come into
the paint. The Clippers need some inside toughness
because Kandi Man is one of the softess 7 footers I have
seen. The only tough guy we have is Skinner. I hope we
can enjoy a few more wins before the year is up.
Later all.

u clips are getting screwed. You have got to
retain ur free agents. mo and derek vowed to leave. so
basically next year you'll have a star(odom), a good
rookie, and 13 CBA players. if the clips can somehow fire
their crappy coach and get someone good and keep mo and
derek, the clips WILL make playoffs next year.

i dont really follow college sports but i like
that ed cota guy... well i think thats his name...
like i said i dont follow college sports that much....
anyways clips need a point guard... or they could put
odom at point since he does awesome at that
position... he could easily get ROTY if he sticks with that
position. he's the only rookie this year with 2
triple-doubles and if he gets more i believe he will get closer
and closer to winning it. hows elton brand doing? i
dont watch chicago bull games so i really dont how
good he's doing... i think francis is out of the race
and it's between odom and brand. man i really hope
odom wins it.. anyways if they domt draft a PG then
they should get a new center i like that guy who's on
cinncinati. dont know his name though... heh man i gotta
start watching more college basketball.... anyways
olowokandi isn't improving much but does decent... they
should start closs and put the kandiman on bench, also
pete chillcut is doing pretty good. he has a nice
outside jumper and they signed him for the rest of the
year. maybe they could resign him again... and drop
someone like murdock or.... oh, mo taylor and DA r gone
so that leaves us with the
kandiman,closs,skinner,avent,chillcut,odom,hudson,jones,piatkowski, and nesby.
nesby does great starting so he should
take over the SG position next year. PF maybe skinner
could take it over if he played the exact same way he
did when mo taylor was out with his injury, C closs
could start, or they could pick up a rookie for this
position which i doubt they will, SF odom could stay or
take over the PG postion, they could draft a SF.
anyways... i'm not sure if any of these ideas r good but
it's my opinion so... later

Thanks for your thoughts. I see that you are 15.
I had season tickets in 1988 thru 1993. The problem
with comments like "Elgin did good" is that it keeps
repeating. I remember when we drafted danny manning and
everyone was pumped. The year before Elgin got Gary Grant,
Charles Smith and Ken Norman and everyone said "here we
go!"<br>The problem is that good things seem to happen like
this year with odom, anderson, and hope for olowakandi
and nesby. But it always falls apart.<br>It is a
management and leadership issue, not a player talent issue.
Until management produces a positive environment it
will never get better. You don't do that with new
buildings, but people skills and commitment. <br>I like this
club and hope you don't mind my posting.

but elgin baylor make some good choices getting
karim abdul-jabbar and that other guy i forgot his
name... bad choice trading my fav. NBA player lamond
murray who is having a great season, better than derek
anderson..... we lose anderson and taylor by the end of the
season... we could of kept murray for the whole new
contract we signed him....but we desprately need a point
guard. closs should start at center too.... release eric
murdock and sign pete chillcut to a small contract like 1
or 2 years, brian skinner isn't doing too good since
the injury.. be if he get's it back he could replace
mo taylor at PF.... SF goes to lamar odom, SG does
to.... hmmm.... maybe nesby well they could put odom at
point and nesby at SF then that leaves the SG position
open.... piakowski.... isn't the same as he use to be.
hmm.... who's good at SG?

My point with the post is that the same thing
keeps happening over and over. Since i have followed
this team, the same stuff for 15 years. They will
never keep anyone until Sterling and Andy Roeser and
Elgin Baylor are gone. They also need a real coach who
the players will respect. The only good years were
when Larry Brown was there.
