yes, there will be less dunks. but if you think
that sucks, next year shaq will be double teamed
throughout the whole game, with or without the ball, causing
the lakers to be FORCED to use good teamplay
(GASP!!!). but then college games are fun to watch, the
games are usually close, and with zone defense, fg%
usually improves. Now you may say zone defense is
advantageous to the defense, which is not true. Zone defense
allows the O to get better outside shots, but doesnt
allow dumb isolations and driving in the first thing
you cross halfcourt. Im sure you all are sick of a
play where Kobe/Miles/Odom/whatever young star gets
the ball at halfcourt line, drives in, and ends up
with a turnover. With zone defense, there will be less
reckless driving in, and the only way to drive in would be
when there aren't 20 guys in your face. heck, if a
team decides to use a zone trap defense, with good
passing the O can get even more chances to drive in and
slam. <br><br>The only thing that i fell bad about is
the backcourt trap. If using a backcourt trap play
and only 8 seconds to get over the line, the O may
make reckless passes to get out. <br><br>But then
overall, good passing will ensure fast, fun gameplay.
Yesterday, I was watching a LA Lakers vs Portland game in
the 1991 playoffs, game 6 at the forum. The players
on both teams moved about twice as fast as todays
players because they fast broke almost all the time. Now,
coaches are afraid to, but with zone, it will be more
beneficial to up the tempo.<br><br>And the clippers would
very much benefit from zone defense. Many teams with
set offenses(Santonio, lakeshow, and jazz) will
struggle adapting to zone defense, whereas the clippers,
whose offense isnt very structured, will not have to
adapt much.
