The 32nd Annual TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour is this Sunday, May 3rd and a number
of Skidaddlers are planning on cycling the 42 miles from downtown Manhattan to
Staten Island. Here are directions if you're parking your car at the Staten
Island Ferry.
Take the Lower level of the Verrazano Bridge. From the Belt Pkwy get the left
lane of the ramp. Stay as far right as possible at the toll booths on Staten
Island and reset your odometer to zero as soon as you pass the tolls. Take the
Bay St exit and continue down School Road about a quarter mile then make a left
at Bay Street. Continue along Bay Street until your odometer reads 3.1 miles (in
front of the Ferry terminal). Make a left on Richmond Terrace and drive for 1.0
mile and make a right turn at the traffic signal at Jersey. St., immediatly make
another right and drive about a half mile to the first parking booth. Pay $7.00
for the day and we'll park by the pole marked C6 at 6:05 AM. We'll bike to the
ferry where there's a bike waiting area at street level so do not climb up the
stairs that you pass. The ferry leaves at 6:30 and the Bike Tour starts at 8:00.
At the end of the tour, when your in front of the ferry terminal you'll see a
blue sign saying Municipal Parking. Go down this ramp, make a left, pass the
Staten Island Yankees ballfield and back to your car at C6. After making a left
on Jersey St go straight through the traffic light. Don't turn left on Richmond
Terrace as Bay St. will be closed to cars. Continue for 1.0 mile on Jersey St
and make a right on Victory Blvd. In 1.7 miles, make a left on Clove Road (it's
under construction). After the Staten Island Expressway overpass make a left
onto the service road. Go straight at Richmond Road and Targee Street and then
back on the expressway.
