Dearest Fans and Friends,
Come out and join your SufferJets tonight. We'll be heading out to one of our
sponsoring bars, Korova, at 8:30 pm.
Stop by to drink a derby beer (proceeds from your pint will help keep us
rolling!), get recruited as a skater or referee, find out about upcoming games,
or buy some of our fabulous SufferJets merchandise!
Korova is at 214 The Commons (east state street) in between Aurora and Tioga
streets.
See you there!
Your fan,
Sarabellum
Hey fans and friends!
Just a heads up that we'll be stirring up the derby hot pot this
weekend at the Ithaca Chili Festival. If you need some chili relief,
swing by our table near Mate Factor to say hi, pick up some merch, the
2009 season schedule, to get recruited as a skater, ref or sponsor; or
to hear the details of our exciting victory last Sunday.
It's chilli out there! But things in derby land are heating up!
Cheers,
Sarabellum
Dear Fans, Friends, and Family;
After dancing the night away to the Sutras at the SufferJets Sweet and
Tart Valentine's Saturday Soiree, we rose on Sunday, hot to hit the
rink; ready to compete in our first bout of the '09 season.
Last night your Ithaca SufferJets teamed up with their Syracuse
comrades and, calling themselves "the Ice Queens," they took on the
Hellions of Troy in "a bout of fire and ice."
Though behind at halftime, the Ice Queens dominated the second half
and took the game 131 Ice Queens : 98 Hellions.
An excellent start to the second season of Ithaca roller derby madness!
Coming up next: The Ithaca SufferJets take on the Sisters of Mayhem
in Hackettstown, New Jersey on March 21st. Check out the website for
the complete season schedule.
Thanks for your support!
As always...
You rock, we roll.

Tonight the SufferJets are kicking off a series of "derby nights out" at local bars that sponsor the SufferJets and roller derby in Ithaca.

Dear Fans, Family, and Friends,
Happy New Year!
The Ithaca League of Women Rollers, more commonly known by their team
name, the SufferJets, is recruiting referees for their second season of
hootin' and hollerin' sporty ROLLER DERBY fun!
* There are roles for skating refs as well as non-skating refs.
* We can teach you the rules and teach you how to skate. No experience
required.
* Referee gigs are a great way to be involved with the derby league if
you: * are not a woman (refs can be of any gender), or * don't want to
fully commit to being a team skater, or *want to be involved but fear
injury.
* Being a referee requires less commitment. We only ask that you come to
practice occasionally (though you are always welcome!) and if possible,
just before any bouts you plan to ref in.
*No monthly dues or fees.
If you are interested, please e-mail the SufferJets at
info@... with REF in the subject line. Then we'll keep
you in the referee loop! If you know others that may be interested,
please forward this e-mail to them.

Hi Girls,
I won't be at practice tonight because I've decided to wait for my new
skates which are due to arrive July 1st, just in time for Tuesday's
practice. I ordered a nice pair of Riedell R3s with jump bars-anyone
know anything about them? My new helmet and wrist guards just arrived
today.
Surprisingly, I'm not in that much pain after Tuesday's ghastly fiasco
where I was a quivering mess and falling all over. I could barely walk
when I got home and was scared I would be paralyzed by morning, but
these last 2 mornings I really haven't been that sore. It's a miracle!
Hopefully that groin muscle will build strength up with each practice
and eventually I'll be able to do those drills without using my hands.
Talk about a big, fat, juicy slice of humble pie! Ouch!
Have a great practice. See ya Tuesday! :0)

Hey, sorry that I'm not at practice tonight. I got out of work late
and forgot that there was a practice today until I looked at the
schedule (which is at my computer all the way out in caroline). I
promise I won't be lame next week and show up on Tuesday. Also, does
anyone know if we got our order from sincity skates in yet. If so, how
much do I owe for my outdoor wheels? I will see you all Tuesday!

This month's bout spotlight cause is the Ithaca Skate Park. The Ithaca Skate Park provides important recreational space for area skaters and is in need of renovations. A portion of the donations will be given to the Temuchin Park Fund (www.temparkfund.com).

Dearest SufferJets Fans,
They say there’s a fuel crisis in America.
But we had plenty of Fan Fuel last Friday!
You all rocked the rink and fueled your SufferJets to victory! We
couldn’t have done it without you. What a crowd! Now that’s renewable
energy! Let’s see it all again on June 15th when we take on the Utica
Clubbers.
Thanks for making our debut bout the incredible event it was.
In the meantime, I remain, a fan of our fans,
Sarabellum
You are amazing! Last night your enthusiam and support touched the SufferJets' hearts. A big thank you to the best fans that we could ever dream of having.
Our sister league Assault City gave us a super tight game ending in a last-jam victory for the SufferJets! The final score was 84 to 81. The Psycho Dolls were awesome!
Mistress Momo is so excited. Bout day is finally here!
Come see the SufferJets roll into Ithaca in their hometown roller derby
debut. The Cass Park rink doors open at 6:30 and the bout begins at
7:00.
If you're pre-partying, stop on by Korova On the Commons or the
Chapterhouse Brew Pub for a derby beer or two. If martinis are more your
style, check out our new sponsor, Felicia's Atomic Lounge, for a
derby-tini to be unveiled today!

Dear SufferJet Fans, good news from your list-Mistress, Momo.

details about gal-on-gal derby and tomorrow's rockin' bout.
Remember, the doors at Cass open at 6:30 and the action starts at 7:00.
Drinks, fun and who-knows-what-could-happen (but you could email me
about ideas...) at the Chapter House Brew Pub afterwards.
Until later,
Mistress Momo
To the Fans of the SufferJets,
The SufferJets are ready to go on Friday! But man, we are already
Sufferin’. Our home derby debut is imminent. And yet, in the last week
we’ve had three of our key skaters go down. Some of you saw Momo hobbling
around on crutches recently; but pivot Mystique broke a hand bone at
practice last week which was operated on yesterday (she still hopes to
bout on Friday- what a gal!), and our own team co-captain and one of our
most valuable and versatile players, Chairman Meow, was carried out of
practice on Tuesday night. The Doctor says one of two things happened.
If A, then she will be rearin’ to bout in Rock City in July. If B, she
will never skate again.
It won’t be easy for the SufferJets to prevail over the Psycho Dolls with
too many new team members and not enough well-seasoned meat. Now, more
than ever, the SufferJets need your support. Send Chairman Meow a
get-well note. Buy Momo a drink if you see her hobbling your way. Open
all doors for Mystique; carry her groceries. You are fans aren’t you?
The good news is that a new supply of fresh meat is coming out to put on
skates. So come out on Friday for a glimpse of what players remain and
bring your sharpie so you can sign Chairman Meow’s new cast.
We are ready to rumble. After all, one (wo) man’s pain is another man’s
pleasure. Bringing roller derby to Ithaca has been a real labor of love &
we hope you're into derby as much as we are. Join us, support us in any
way, and make sure everyone in your circles knows about the big event on
Friday. Bring your lawn chairs. Cass Park Rink. 7 pm.
Cheers Fans,
Sarabellum

Greetings SufferJet fans, from your list-Mistress, Momo! (if you just pictured me cracking a whip, then yes, you have the right idea)
Exciting things are going on with our team, but the best new is this:
The SufferJets are happy to announce the kick off of roller derby in Ithaca. Our home season begins on Friday, May 23 at the Cass Park Rink, 701 Taughannock Blvd. Come out to see the Ithaca SufferJets face off against the Syracuse Psycho Dolls. Cheer on your local derby girls!
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the action starts at 7:00 pm. Live broadcast by WVBR. Plenty of side-line entertainment.
After the bout, be sure to join your roller-girls for drinks and merriment at the Chapter House Brew Pub on 400 Stewart Avenue (http://www.chapterhouseithaca.com/).
This is your chance to see derby in person! But there will be other derby-licious events going on in Ithaca in the near future. Save these dates:
June 6- A Derby-taunt Ball - 80s themed formal Fundraiser at Castaways - Relive your High School prom Derby Style! Rock to the 80's with a live band.
June 15- Who's Your Daddy Bout? - SufferJets vs. Utica's Asylum City Lunachicks at Cass Park
A big thanks to our sponsors, Korova and Chapter House Brew Pub! Support derby by supporting these local businesses.
Greetings, Derby fans! This is your list-Mistress Momo!
Some of the lovely Suffer Jets will be on WVBR tomorrow evening for a
question and answer session. Make sure you tune in at 9:00 to 93.5 and
perhaps you will be able to ask some questions of your own!
Cheers,
Momo
Hey ladies,
I overheard some talking about needing a mix for the 23rd. Do we still need
that? I would be
happy to make one-have lots of different genres of music, and can do it quickly.
Let me know. It's on the table,
Aileen :)
Come Cheer on the SufferJets!!!
