Hey folks,
I'm happy to finally, officially, announce GRASS 2006, June 3-4. GRASS
is GRU's Savage Seven tournament, which, for those of you who may not be
familiar with the format, involves rosters of ten, seven of whom are
picked for each game to play the entirety without subs. Games are to
seven, and there will be lots of them. It's a fun format.
The level of play typically ranges from local "B" league to national
club, and while we're always well-represented by Boulder and Denver
teams, we've also drawn travelling squads from places like California,
Arizona, New Mexico, Iowa, Nebraska and Utah.
This is going to happen at Broomfield Commons in Broomfield, CO, June
3-4. The Commons is the nice new soccer complex that Broomfield's built
with the surplus it's enjoyed since it became its own county, and it's a
nice place to play.
They're also a little cheaper than the fields in Westminster, which
means I can drop the team fee to a nice even $200 (divides well by ten).
Rather than asking for a deposit check which I don't cash until after
tourney weekend, then running around trying to collect the rest of the
fee on Saturday, I'm going to just ask for the full fee with your bid.
If that's a hardship for you, let me know, and we'll work something out.
Another advantage of the Broomfield fields is that I'll be able to offer
some form of refund in the unlikely event of a weather-related
cancellation. We're also going to steer clear of undercooked hogs this
year, even though OD is probably still feasting on that unexpected
porcine windfall. As part of the supper at the fields plan, we'll also
have a contingency for heading back to an indoor establishment, also in
the unlikely event of foul weather. We may also be able to wrangle a
beer permit, something which has always eluded us in Westminster. Stay
tuned.
For all the details, including information on how to submit a bid, go

If someone could pass this message along to the Denver list, as well as
help me get the word out in places like Colorado Springs and Crested
Butte, that'd be great, thanks.
Savage ultimate. Savage fun.
Cheers,
Tyson
