Subject: [denverultimate] Rocky Mountain Sectionals
Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2005 09:27:52 -0600
Hey Colorado Ultimate community,
It's time to start thinking about the UPA fall series. This year's
Rocky
Mountain sectionals tournament for the men's, women's and coed divisions
will be held at Columbine Polo Club http://www.columbinepoloclub.com
<http://www.columbinepoloclub.com/> on September 24th and 25th.
Columbine
is a great site and we are lucky to be playing there again this year.
Also,
for the first time in a while, all three divisions will be playing at
the
same location, so this is going to be a great tournament.
Let's work on getting a good showing at sectionals this year in all
divisions. For the mixed division, we have been turning down bids to
regionals for the last few years. That means that every team at coed
sectionals who wants to play in regionals has had the opportunity to do
so,
but we are still turning away as many bids as we're taking. The
regionals
tournament is due to be held in Colorado this year. That means no
airfare/hotel expenses for regionals! So, we really should be able to
fill
our sectionals and take all our regionals bids.
What should you do?
1) Talk to your friends, league teammates, etc. and get a team
together. Get them to sign up on-line as UPA members: www.upa.org
<http://www.upa.org/> . Trust me, do this now and it will be easier for
everyone in the long run.
2) Contact the appropriate sectionals coordinator, even if you are
not
positive you'll pull together a team: Men: Dar Delay:
ddelay@...,
Women: Kristin Hardie Kristin.ovens@..., Mixed (coed): Ali Walton
alwalton@...
3) Once the sectionals coordinator knows you are interested, you
will
receive more info about the tournament, getting your bids in, etc. If
you
don't let us know that you might have a team, you won't get the info you
need, so be in touch with us.
If you are a consistent league player, play pick-up, play in tournaments
regularly or even occasionally, and/or love ultimate-you should be
playing
at sectionals, so get your teams together! Ali Walton
Ps. if you aren't from Denver, please forward this to the ultimate list
in
your area. Thanks!

NOTICE:
This group is NOT an ultimate ONLY discussion group - how boring. It is
a way for this community to share opportunities and information that may
be of interest to each other. If you doubt the relevance of your
"opportunity" please add the tag [spam] to the beginning of the subject
line. I will not tolerate heckling each other, blatant rants, spammers
or inappropriate language etc.
This is a good place to share information about ultimate events,
parties, rentals, gear for sale, etc. I'll even tolerate the occasional
entrepreneurial advertisement from a recognized member of the
community.
And finally, if a post is about an organization, social movement or a
political issue, please ensure it is an opportunity or an invitation -
not just an opinion.
Also, if you find yourself getting irritated with email. I recommend
you login to yahoogroups.com and change your setting to "daily digest"
