A big problem with the new list:
The messages reach me as sent from the individual list members; not from the
list.
This 1) makes it impossible to filter the list mail from other mail to my
"speedskating" email account, and makes a total mess out of my until now
rather tidy mail system. I get a large number of mails each day, and simply
can't live with un-sorted mail.
2) This also turns any attempt to reply to the list into a personal mail to
the one who sent the mail I'm replying to.
If that wasn't enough, it seems like my mail application (Entourage; part of
MS Office 2001) have something against Yahoo mail ‹ probably related to it
labelling mail from most American ISPs as "junk".
The only solution I can see, is to un-subscribe and read the list from the
web page.
With permanent Internet access I can do this ‹ with dialled access, I'd
simply have to drop the list. Anyway, this would most probably cut down on
my contributions...
I'm also still wondering why my own test mail used about 6 hours to get back
to me. It's not that I wasn't yet registred as a subscriber ‹ I got several
other messages from the new list in the meantime.

I measured some 24 minutes last time;
but on my last message it took for yahoo only 1 minute to return,
while Köln took 8 minutes.
Guess it all depends on coincidence (as a lot of things do)
May coincidence bless you

Hi I tried it, and I think it works:
go to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Speed_skating
Click join this group, make a new account for youself (join Yahoo),
Return to the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Speed_skating website. Now try join
this group again. It will show all the data you
entered when you subscribed. Then click ok. It should say you entered. And the
last part: verify the e-mail adress you entered so
you will receive e-mails in the future.
I hope this helps,

Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
Speed_skating group:
Would you like to see ranking lists of
skaters and/or rinks on a regular basis
on this list?
o Yes
o No
o Rather buy them from Tron Eng
o Rather see them on website
o Make'm myself!
To vote, please visit the following web page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Speed_skating/polls
Note: Please do not reply to this message. Poll votes are
not collected via email. To vote, you must go to the Yahoo! Groups
web site listed above.
Thanks!
On the occation of founding a new Speedskating maillist I will suggest
to share the maillist, it means: to found an extra maillist for
Shorttrack.
I know, there is much lower traffic regarding Shorttrack than
Longtrack. Bus it is an additional reason to share, because it is some
difficult to find two Shorttrack related posts inside 100 posts.
If you are interested in both parts of Speedskating subscribing both
maillist is available.
An requirement is that there are enouth subscribers for an extra
Shorttrack maillist. It think 20 members are the minimum.
In case of founding an extra Shorttrack maillist I will announce it on
my Shorttrack page and in the Shorttrack newsletter (at time about 300
subscribere, I think some of them will also subscribe a Shorttrack
maillist).
What do you think about?
Who would enter this possible Shortrrack maillist?

Repost of an older message (to trial the new list only)
-------------------------------------------------------
Former German Junior Champion (1997) Anja Schneiderheinze of Erfurt stopped
their skating carrier und changed to bobsledding.
She placed 8th in an International bobpushing competition in Oberhof
previos weekend.
The reason to stop their carrier was non-qualifying for World Cup last
year - it was the requirement to keep her professional training (as an
border guard).
Matthias Opatz
------------------------
Supply: Anja schneiderheinze did have a special complaint between 1998
and 2000 (Pfeiffer's disease; glandular fever), and in her opinion it
is the main reason for mediocrity in skating.
That is fast!

However....:
As this was a test message as well to both lists; the test showed
that uni-koeln.de takes approx. 5 minutes to reach my mailbox,
while yahoo takes some 20 minutes.
Too much traffic over the ocean back and forth for yahoo, or just
a bad moment?

Not really reliable either...
So I very much agree with Marcel.
Go for Yahoo.
greetings Kees
Ron,
I don't remember how I subscribed at Yahoo but I definitely get the messages
in my private (corporate) email account.
Sake - also testing to speed_skating

Subject: RE: [skate] Yahoo and The future of the list 'skate' (please

A question to the specialists here:
Am I right that the only way to subscribe to the mentioned Yahoo-skate group
is by creating a Yahoo-account ?
What means that these messages arrive only in the Yahoo-mailbox and not at
your normal email-account ?
Just visited that Yahoo-site, saw some messages there from a few of our
listmembers, but can't subscribe without that forced Yahoo-account :-(
If this is the only possibilty at Yahoo then I don't like this at all. The
friendlyness of uni-koeln is that the messages are delivered at your own
private email-account.
But maybe I'm all wrong here ?
Have fun out there,

I send this test message twice!
First at 13:44 dutch time, and arrived back 4 hours later.
So I sent the 2nd copy, and that took 6 minutes...
For both messages I put in a CC: to skate@...,
and both haven't reached [skate] (yet!)
Ar there any traffic jams today?

Probably because skate@egroups is not a real group at yahoo, just
a remote group. Also, it might be that the group needs to be
