Official Meriden weekend info below for those not on the DA Yahoo Group.
 
I've attached my own schedule and route from Broughton Astley to reach Meriden in time for the service.
 
I note that the ride listed in Cycle Chat for May 18th goes to Flore.
In past years we have aimed to go to the Chuch End Brewery after Meriden (BYO packed lunch).
 
I usually make my own way to Meriden, but I'm happy to lead from Broughton Astley, leaving at 9am.
Let me know if interested, else I'll make my own way directly from home.

Heart of England Cycling Rally at Meriden
May 17 – 18 2008

Welcome

This cycling rally has been held for many years at the village of
Meriden, situated between Coventry, Solihull and Birmingham. This is
the proclaimed Centre of England. A national War Memorial dedicated
to cyclists was erected on the village green in 1921. You are
invited to join us for some or all of the weekend.

Audax Rides - Saturday 17h May

Cotswold Challenge Audax
160km approx across the Avon valley into the Cotswold villages to
Moreton-in-Marsh. Then up Edge Hill and through Burton Dassett
Country Park, returning round Leamington Spa.

Warwickshire Wanderer Audax
100km approx across the Avon valley, then through the leafy country
lanes, passed the Edgehill Civil War Memorial, climbing through
Burton Dassett Country Park and returning around Leamington Spa.

Refreshment stops en route for both rides. Mudguards recommended,
but not compulsory.
Entry £5 with AUK or CTC Membership Card. Non-members £7-00

Pace Judging Competition
Sunday 18th May

This event consists of a circuit from Meriden Village Hall of
approximately 15km. Each rider will complete both a clockwise and
anticlockwise direction with the aim of equalizing the time taken
for each circuit. This event qualifies for the new CTC Tourist
Trophy Award. Entries £2. Details from John Bennett.

9.30-12.30pm Meriden Library open for touring information.


7.00am Meriden Methodist Church Hall open ight refreshments
available throughout the day udax registration.

Trade Stand provided by Park Cycles. (Phone 0121 353 5136 before the
weekend if you require specific goods brought along for approval).

8.00am Start of Cotswold Challenge 160km Audax.
9.00am Start of Warwickshire Wanderer 100km Audax.

9.30am Registration for all-day led rides.
(£2.)
Leave Methodist Church Hall 10am prompt.

1) Snitterfield, near Stratford on Avon. Bring
sandwiches for lunch. 45-55 miles.

2) To Kenilworth, with lunch at Ashow. Bring
sandwiches for lunch. 30 miles.

6.00pm Evening 3-course Meal at the Village Hall, Meriden.
£6.50 each. Bring own wine and glass. Capacity 40.
Pre-booking essential no later than 4th May.

12.00-4.00pm Cakes and tea/coffee available, or bring your own
sandwiches.

12.00-4.00pm Trade Stand by Park Cycles.

1.00pm Pace Judging Competition.
