I now have a date for the Le-Jog ride, setting off from Land's End on Tuesday 1st May. I'm accompanying an old work mate, who wants to do the ride for personal reasons, and I offered to facilitate by riding with him. That means I'm converting his bike for the job, planning the route, advising on clothing etc. As he is not a regular clubrider, we are taking 3 weeks or so, finishing with a visit to my brother on law in the Orkneys (and to the Highland Park distillery!). 

 

I'm using a route based on the CTC Le-Jog B&B leaflet, with some modifications from the Bike Britain book on the ride; that goes to the Western side of Scotland after Gretna Green to avoid the Grampians by skirting Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, then taking the Eastern coastal route north of Inverness via Wick which hopefully won't be too busy being early season.

 

During May I will therefore only access email sporadically, though Barbara will be reading them in my absence if the PC behaves! If you need a swift response, then try my mobile on 0794 166 9602.
