Polling Facility on Yahoo Groups   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #777 of 1284 |
On the DA Yahoo Group which I administer, there is a Poll facility.
Is that available on the South Leics. Section Yahoo Group? I assume
it's only visible to the administrator, Neil, who can initiate a
poll.

The reason for the query? Well yesterday I went directly to
Catthorpe for coffee - and no one else turned up. I know Gill &
Bernard are in Majorca, Roy was with the Tandem Club. I guess Neil
and Tony were Audaxing.

In that situation, if a poll were set up the week before to ask if
folk were A - planning to ride, B - Not going to ride, or C - don't
know either way, then we might be able to avoid Sunday's situation,
hanging around waiting for nobody to turn up.

As I left Cathorpe after a 2nd mug of coffee at 11.20, I decided to
ride round to Walcote. I can confirm that they do not provide Thai
food at lunchtimes other than Friday. So we've lost our only two
venues for an ethnic alternative to "Sunday Lunch". They did have
two interesting dark beers to sample before I returned home. I noted
that the Black Horse was not very full of diners. Another USP
(Unique Selling Point) not being used to advantage!

The week before was Mothering Sunday. Only Roy joined me at Hallaton
for coffee, as others had turned back at Kibworth. Just as well, as
the Somerby pub were fully occupied with booked lunches, and
reluctantly provided sandwiches for me, Roy and Maggi whom Roy had
arranged to meet there (though some confusion which pub!). A note
for the future - I suggest we make a point of visiting the Church
End Brewery on Mothering Sunday, to be sure we have food to eat -
our own! BTW Roy and I had to ride through a severe sleet storm
before reaching Kibworth that day, so those who turned back missed a
real treat!
