Saturday morning I rode at A.R.M.L.W.R. With a friend. This is a
super adventure ride and one that I look forward to doing again. We
saw two Deer, one Bobcat,& one Alligator, from a distance of less than
50 feet. The hard dirt road is passable and the 24 mile adventure in
the outback is well worth the effort..............et wpb

This morning, on my way to work, my rear tire went flat yet again.
It was a Continental. That is the third time within 7 days, and the
cause is small shell fragments mixed in with piles of rubble between
Paul Rardin Park and the Pahokee airport.

The tire is a Continental Grand Prix (I love the tire for road-
riding, but it is terrible for riding on the dike). I switched out
my front Continental for a Primo Comet over a week age because of
the difficulties with Continentals. The rear tire is torn up.

This was highly annoying today, because

The library I am working at opened to the public today.

I was going to be late for work (that's not so bad, since I had a
few hours once I got there to prepare).

Once I had changed out tubes and was inflating the replacement tube
(this was no easy task, because I had to take off a Continental with
a single tire lever), the bolt inside of the Presta valve snapped.

A fried drove me from Paul Rardin Park to the library. I am
thankful for that.

Also, I am thankful that I got to watch a bald eagle and an osprey
fish while I was waiting at the top of the dike for him. Then I
watched some fishermen be a little less successful. I sat in
my 'bent's seat throughout it. Aaah, the joys of riding recumbent!

I switched to a Primo Comet in the front because my front wheel's
rim was bent in a fight with a curb. I tried putting a Hookworm on
the new rim first, but it didn't work (too wide of a tire and tube),
so I switched to a Primo Comet with Kevlar bead (I can get a good
deal on some parts through a local hardware store).

I am thinking about putting either a Hookworm or a Comet on the rear
wheel.

Be careful about the tires you choose to use for the LOST ride.
Make sure they can take some punishment. I thought that the Grand
Prix would be able to take much more punishment than they have.

Hi All,

I live in Royal Palm Beach and have joined your group some time ago but
based on where I live I have not joined you on your rides. I know you
are doing a LOST Ride but will not be able to make it. I use a Garmin
Edge 305 and would love to get the file of your ride as I want to ride
it with my son in the next month. If anyone is willing to share a LOST
gps file it would be super. Please let me know. You can email it to
me or let me know how I can get it.

I did one on Tampa in August just to say I did it. It was a good

OK,! The correct name is Arthur R. Marshall
Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge (established in 1951}. So,
what do you think about a club ride at A.R.M.L.W.R.?
I may be riding at this location Sunday. The hard dirt
road is suppose to run 12 miles south and end at a
main canal in Broward county.

Anchy,

The RNS fairing won't fit your bike. I think fairings are better for long wheel base bikes where you sit very close to the fairing. Short wheel base bikes benefit more from a "tailbox" (a rear fairing). I don't have any scientific data to back this up but I'm sure that the data is out there somewhere.

This is an ADVANCED level metric. We'll ride approx 63 miles and the
goal is to have a 15.5 to 16 MPH "average" at the end of the ride. This
means we'll have to keep the speed ABOVE 17 MPH as much as possible.
Remember that around here, the average speed is usually 2 miles per
hour LOWER than the cruising speed. Meet @ 7:15 AM and BE READY to
pedal by 7:30 AM.
