Hey Hose
James Kern, John Schlitter, Bill Wolff, James Ossa, Michael Kring,
Jay Copp, and our own Cathy A. Miller don't need no stinking hear rate
monitor at Sebring!!!
We don't have to ride with any HR monitors!

Push buttons, YOU? I thought more on "MASHING" them... Shot. Heart
rate monitor? Hummm, a touch from a taser gun will probably be enough
to ZAP that puppy and you will be DEAD (Hopefully not in the REAL
sense) in the water, as I ZOOM by putting MORE miles on you! (shot) SO
yes, get motivated and get those miles back up and going! You too will
maybe be able to CHEAT, if I have to go in for rotor cup surgery

Just returned from a week on Sanibel Island and I'm delighted to report
that even though the tree canopy will never be quite the same as pre-
Charlie days, cycling is just as good as ever. It's always nice to
ride somewhere where autos actually respect bicycle riders. Now I have
to recondition myself to ride in South Florida!

South Seas Plantation is still not 100% open from the hurricane. We
rented a boat and could actually see the path of destruction that tore
through North Captiva Island. There's still a bit of construction
traffic from Blind Pass to Captiva (not as much as last year, but still
heavy).

Hey guys,

I spent a day in Atlanta this weekend and had a chance to check out the Silver Comet Trail. You might remember that Cathy Miller, about a year ago,  thought that our group ought to invade this trail but then I got busy anf frankly I forgot all about it. When Sergio learned I was going to be in Atlanta this weekend he asked me to check it out and so I did.

One word describes this trail and that word is WOW! (Beautiful, scenic, well kept, etc. etc. etc)  What a NICE cycling trail!!!!!!!!! Soon as I saw it I wished I had my bent with me.  Sue and I thoght that this could be a PERFECT get away.

We noticed that it is a popular trail among cyclists in general and noticed that there were a bunch of bent folks in the area. Among many others I saw one guy on a recumbent hand trike -  something you don't see every day.The trail heads are located just west of Atlanta.  We drove past a few but found on in particular that would be ideal for our group. At this one spot, they have a pretty nice bicycle shop where you can rent recumbent bikes, they have plenty of parking and restrooms. To get to this spot, you can drive into Atlanta, take I 20 West to 285, go North on 285 to the very next exit which is EXIT 12 (278). You can then go WEST on 278 for a few miles to Floyd Street, and turn right (go North) on Floyd till you see that Bicycle shop and the trail head (impossible to miss unless you're sleeping while driving)

I'm thinking that we ought to consider this trail as our March or April 07 get away. This is one trail we ought to invade. The two things to think about is to do this we need at least four days. One day to get there. Two days to ride and one day to come back which I know, it is a little hard but it might be worth the effort. We also need to find a nearby hotel.

Your thoughts?

Jose

Hey EZ,

Go ahead and shoot. YES, I know dish it out, and YES,  I know I push buttons (a NASTY hobby of mine but it is part of my effort to understand the human breed)  But I know but I can take it (at least I pretend to take it well). Besides, if it gets out of hand I can always ask Sergio for protection. He is good at breaking people's legs (well OK, he does it ON HIS bike - most of the time anyway)

Ok so now you're ahead of me but YOU CHEATED. You took advantage of my having to be out of town but that is OK cuz I come back with a renewed desire to get back into cycling and quit taking it easy on those so called "Advanced SBW rides ". (Shot one) Actually, the SBW rides can be fun provided you know what to expect. (Shot two). And as long as we know that a safe paceline is a cycling oxymoron, we can enjoy a paceline, something I do from time to time cuz, heck, you can't live for ever, can you?

Ok, ALL KIDDING ASIDE and YES, I am KIDDING!... I want to go back to basics which is I want to get a heart rate monitor and ride as fast as I can WITHIN a certain heart rate for a while and see where this takes me. You can blame Willie for this crazyness,. All of this means that I'm gonna do my best NOT to fall too far behind even when you get your Angio.

Ok, here's your chance to make the available data on Florida Trail's Network more useful.

The Florida Trails Network is a compilation of recreational trails data provided by federal, state, local and non-profit organizations throughout Florida. This is an interactive web site used to provide a portal to assist in the creation, update, and maintenance of the Florida's Trails Network.

Visit the site at:
http://ogt.geoplan.ufl.edu/

While you can use the "View Maps"  link  (http://ogt.geoplan.ufl.edu/view_maps.html)to view interactive maps of recreation trails in Florida, you can also PROVIDE DATA!!!

Use the "Submit Data" link (http://ogt.geoplan.ufl.edu/submit_data.html) to submit data on Existing Trails or Trailheads.

So, all you trailriders, show them you can make a difference.

Hey Sergio,

What are you talkin 'bout? That Vmax is a not the kind of bike
for someone wanting air, exercise and physical challenge...with it
he would ride into the sunset but gain a big gut.

Did you run that thing into the ground?

I say pick the Highracer. But neither of the three is the best
choice for riding in South Florida as much as you will be riding it.
The VK and the Bachetta you will piting you foot down a lot in this
heavy traffic. and the trike well you know all about that. One thing
about the highracer the big wheels and long wheel base and Ti frame
will smooth out the ride big time. If you get the VK think about
getting superman handle bars the tiller bars are a pain to get in
and out of the bike.

Hey guys,

Where did you get the idea that I was the one that screwed up the SBW ride? Did I know say that all I did was follow the leader and smile? In all honesty, the SBW club does not need me to screw up their rides as most of them are already screwed up without my help.  But hey, I don't mind screwed up rides. They're right up the bent ally as we're a bunch of dysfunctional people (not as dysfunctional as EZ and Sergio but.. close)

Hey Shari,

Trust me life is to short to take most things, especially a bike ride, very seriously. Besides, I was taken over by the evil spirit of my Corsero and was suffering from the bad teachings of Master Sergio.

Arrrrghh... more fuel to the fire but it that is what it takes to bring this group to life, may the flames reach the sky.
