If you are a legit ultimate player, SoUP may not be for you. We used to play tuesday nights during the summer, and tried to make it legit, but most of the players don't know a thing about the real game. Just a bunch of high school kids with the barbeque backhand and no flicks. There's pickup in Seekonk however, so try RIPUL.org.

When will Spring '08 pickup games begin? How often do you folks meet up?
Ultimate Frisbee coming to Raynham in one long huck!
RAYNHAM, MA — Come out and play Ultimate Frisbee Saturday afternoons, September 15th thru October 27th, 4:00pm until dark, at Mill Street (aka: Legion) Field, in Raynham. A group of fun-loving, experienced, dedicated, local Ultimate Frisbee players will be playing and teaching this exciting new (to this area) game. All are welcome to play for free! We'll also give away atleast one professional Frisbee at Saturday, to the new player who has the most fun!
Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact, self-officiated sport that is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and growing even faster in North America. Combining elements of football and basketball (plus the sharp cutting of soccer) with a plastic flying disc, Ultimate Frisbee is played by two teams of seven players on a 120 yard long by 40 yard wide field, including two 25 yard deep end-zones (like American football). One team tries to score by passing the disc between its players, advancing up the field until a pass caught in the end-zone for a score. If the disc hits the ground, lands out of bounds or is blocked or caught by the team on deffense, then possession switches (like basketball) while gameplay continues non-stop until one team scores. Check out a more complete outline of the rules at "Ultimate in 10 Simple Rules" <ultimatehandbook.com/Webpages/Beginner/simplerules.html>.
The first, and most important rule of Ultimate Frisbee is "Spirit of the Game," <www.UPA.org/spirit>, "Ultimate Frisbee relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect among competitors, adherence to the agreed upon rules, or the basic joy of play."
A recent survey (conducted by Survey USA for www.SGMA.com), showed that Ultimate Frisbee is played by three times as many people as lacrosse and rugby, combined. More than two million people said they've played Ultimate Frisbee in the past 12 months.
From September 15th thru October 27th, women and men, ages 18-50+, are invited, and enouraged to learn while playing, at the Mill Street (aka: Legion) Field, located at 291 Mill Street, Raynham, MA 02767, next to American Legion Post 405. Player/coach, team captains will teach you this great game while you're getting a great workout. Free one-on-one coaching will be available to those who arrive at 3:30pm. Raynham residents Chris Yule, Dave Sherburne, Tom Yule and Ryan Whitty spearheaded the effort, and worked hard to start this pickup game.
If you want to play, either join the <RaynhamUltimate@googlegroups.com> online group, or, just show up on Saturday afternoon at Mill Street Field with your own water bottle, and a White shirt and a Black or Dark Blue shirt. Cleated running shoes, and your own disc are helpful, but not required.
This Ultimate Frisbee pickup game is offered free of charge thanks to the assistance of the Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance <www.BUDA.org>and the Raynham Parks and Recreation Department. Youth clinics are planned for Spring 2008 and a local "Hat" League is planned for Summer 2008. Please direct questions to the group leader and Lakeville resident, José Invêncio, at 508-692-8505 (TXT MSG only, please).
Hi Elizabeth and Raynham Recreation Department Staff (and area Ultimate pickup players),
TONIGHT, Tuesday, July 31st, at 6:30pm we start playing Ultimate Frisbee at Legion Field:
270 Mill St, Raynham, MA
We INVITE YOU, your STAFF, and anyone else who wants to play (including pickup players from anywhere) and learn the game to come out tonight and play.
Our Boston Ultimate Disc Alliance Summer Club Leagueteam <www.BUDA.org> already had a game scheduled in Milton tonight, which our opponents could not move. So, we're doing split-squads.
WE NEED MORE PLAYERS at Legion Field TONIGHT at 6:30pm. We've got about 10 and need atleast 6-8 more. We are trying to bring up a team from New Bedford, but that is not yet confirmed.
Please let me know if we should expect anyone from your organization, or other Raynham players.
Please join us at BUDA's 17th annual Good Cause "Hat" Tournament, benefiting Boston R.O.C.K.S!!! on Saturday, July 21st, 9am.
I hope to see you NEXT SATURDAY in West Roxbury! This is the most fun you'll ever have playing competitive Ultimate Frisbee -- AND YOU'RE DOING GOOD WHILE HAVING FUN! This is also a great tourney for complete newbies because you will not find better "Spirit of the Game" anywhere.
We urge you to collect pledges for Boston ROCKS from friends, family and co-workers, or simply show up, donate $35 and play Ultimate Frisbee all day long for a Good Cause. Raise/donate over $100 and receive a free BUDA disc and T-shirt. Top fundraisers are eligible for outstanding incentive prizes (see "Pleadge Form")!
No pre-registration is required. All proceeds go to Boston R.O.C.K.S!!!
Boston R.O.C.K.S!!! offers "Recreational Opportunities for City Kids." This non-profit, recently launched summer program is designed to engage 1,000 Boston inner-city youths in fun and safe community activities, while giving each kid an opportunity to grow and reach their full potential.
Hey everybody, I am currently doing a research project on Ultimate for a class. I need to conduct a survey for it.
If you can take the enclosed survey and help me out it would be awesome. Just send the completed survey to me at goatboy331@...
