The SoCalDayBreakers is an informal running club based in Southern California. Most runs start in and around Claremont. We also sometimes run at Bonelli Park in San Dimas or in the Mt. Baldy area. There are no membership fees or club meetings - just the mutual desire to run. Club members include people that run only three miles a day all the way up to members that compete in and win 100 mile runs. Many of our members have completed more than 10 marathons and one member has completed over 100. We also have many Boston qualifiers in the group. In 2008, we had four members compete in Boston - one even beat Lance. Weekday running routes range from 3 to 13 mile courses and we usually have 7-17 people. Our record for a Tuesday or Thursday run at 5:00 from Starbucks in Claremont is 25 people. Depending on the time of the year and what people are training for, weekend runs range from 10 to 25 miles. While most of us focus on running, we have people that have completed Ironman, half-Ironman and shorter triathlons. If you want to take your running to the next level, come out and join us for a run. Credit for our name is given to John Thalman who named the group based on our early start times of 5:00 to 5:30 a.m.
The major reason to join this group is to stay apprised of where the cool, fun runs will be each day. Also, you can post messages to tap into the collective knowledge of our experienced runners. The photograph on the right is taken of Ashley Nordell during a recent winter run.
