As you all know I am coaching Steph. We love to join you guys for at
least Sugarhouse. We are doing:
dryland on monday mornings
weights on monday afternoons
Tuesday is a bike ride through Dimple dell in the morning (to loosenup
the legs after such a hard monday)
skate ice on tuesday afternoon.
Wednesday mornings is easy inline skate laps (with ice tech)
Wed evening is ice again
Thursday morning is OFF
Thuesday evening is shorttrack
Friday morning is Sugarhouse
Friday evening is weights
Saturday morning is ice
Saturday evening is Big Cottonwood
I might start to change the program at some point in late august or
early september, but so far right now this will be how it is done.
Let me know if you guys can fit some of these things with us.
Later,
Eric.

here is my tentative practice schedule for next few weeks.
Hopefully we can at least ride and skate together as much as possible.
Mon 9:00a.m. weights 8:00p.m. 30min easy laps liberty
Tue 8:00a.m. dryland 8:00p.m. 10x30sec sprints liberty
Wed 8:00a.m. bike dimple dell loop 8:00p.m. 30min easy laps liberty
Thu off
Fri 8:30a.m. Sugarhouse Skate
Sat 8:00a.m. Canyon Ride
Sun off
This is not set in stone so if you guys dont mind either posting your
schedules so we can try to work out together a few time a week it
would be great.

I am skipping all kind of training for today and this weekend. hen I need to get ready for st paul marathon. It is still a hilly course and I think I need the sugarhouse effort. I would love to work on faster and shorter. maybe still do the 10 laps, but with some rest after 2 or 3 laps and then again 2 o 3 laps... but the laps being done under 4:20.
Also, this is for everyone, you need to do more slower laps. Speedwork is great but if you do not condition your body position and create muscle memory by applying yourselves at a slower speed then when you sprint your body will get out of position.
Anyway. Lets talk and see what is cooking this weekend. Some of you do not have a race for a month or longer (marathon style). so you might have different goals than myself. But then again, I am in a coaching role more right now than a skater role so I guess I do not care what is going on.

my own 2 cents is that it might be good to still do
sugarhouse friday half, but more important is to go
really fast on the flats, and do true anaerobic 3-5-7
minute efforts at leg searing speed...
maybe that could be teusday.. and the half on
friday...
I have a whole table of interval schedules, that I
should upload to the files section..
I dunno... each of us has different things we should
focus on that will let us tackle the marathon with
optimal ability...
for example, I think Uel & I might benefit more from
doing sugarhouse as a true marathon distance, cause
that's our weakness.. , whereas eric & eric might
benefit more for maximum speed stuff..

Eric K., Tsk Tsk Tsk. What you don't know is that the results of the race had to be reposted at least 2 times because they were using a new tracking system . A few race-times were posted under the wrong names. They mixed up Brittney and Uel jr's numbers. They also listed my brother in the Pro-Elite catagory when he signed up for Grand Master. You see, schtick happens. I seem to remember something about a cirtain finishline, in the recent past. Don't sweat it.You're forgiven. One word of advise... You'll get more out of your jumping using it in your dryland exercises rather than your conclusions. : ) LOL
Eric, the sarcastic.

Eric,
Don't be so quick to place blame with Us.
I filled out the registration forms for me, Eric, Brittany, and Uel.
I put skate-now speed team Salt Lake City on the forms.
I don't know why it was left off the results, I can only assume it was because of the late registration.

good job skating guys!
Andrew, THANKS for putting SkateNow in your Registration... Seeing
you on the top 5 and our name in it. That is what is all about. Hope
you got your money back from Dave Miles (let us know or we will get it
from him).
UEL and ERIC. I do not get it? We got you skates at cost, and not
even our name in your registration forms so that everyone in the
freaking world can see it?
We asked for everyone to work to make a team in exchange for your
skates at cost. To not even put SkateNow in your registration feels
like you do not care... Kim even went through the trouble of getting
you discount registration.
Either we make it work as a team or it is no more than a few guys
skating at the park. In which case you owe us for the balance on the
boots.
Have a few good recovery days and see you saturday at draper.
Eric Kraan.
Well, I have skated 25 miles everyday. Everyday I have chased a
bike, and today we did the 25 miles in about an hour, since we
averaged 24mph. Granted it was downhill, but the wind was against us
(ok, not against me but against the guy on the bike).
anyway, I have some numbers from skating in sugarhouse on June 29.
AVG AVG AVG AVG
259.85 19.40 31.03 80
LAP MIN SEC TIME(secs) MPH KPH
1 4 20.5 260.5 19.35 30.96 80
2 4 18.1 258.1 19.53 31.24 80
3 4 20 260 19.38 31.02 80
4 4 18.5 258.5 19.50 31.20 80
5 4 17 257 19.61 31.38 79
6 4 15.6 255.6 19.72 31.55 79
7 4 26.3 266.3 18.93 30.28 82
8 4 35 275 18.33 29.32 85
9 4 28.2 268.2 18.79 30.07 83
10 3 59.3 239.3 21.06 33.70 74
Total time 43 18.7
The numbers say, avg speed 19.4mph or 31.03 kph. fastest lap was the
last one at 21.06mph. and some of you went faster. pretty consistent
but not perfect with a 4min and 35secs in lap 8... I guess I was tired.
Have a great day and see you next week.
Eric Kraan.
yeah, definately need to figure this out soon soon
soon...
I am trying to work the best I can to talk the Kraans
into coming along.. because if they do, then jess will
come along as well..
(it will be soooooo much fun!!! think about it...
racing & wine-ing!!)
otherwise, yes, I will come along with you...

I would like to leave friday morning around 9-10 drive to sacramento
friday where we have skating friends to stay with, and then goto Napa
either saturday or Sunday Morning.
I guess this is mostly for Andrew, since Eric Lineback will be flying,
Unless we can still talk the Kraan's into coming :)

Uel & Eric,
still on for tomorrow at 8:30am at sugarhouse?
I'd like to do a little less, mileage wise, than we
have been doing, but doing it faster...
like maybe 4 X 2 laps, trading leaders at the top of
every hill (instead of every lap), and pushing harder
on the flats..
less mileage, a bit more intensity... its just an
idea...

Yes, we can do video for technical analysis as well as
for GROOVE,
my first goal, is admittedly groove... ; )
but its really useful to see one's double push in
slo-mo from directly behind.... It helped me fix the
fact that for a long time, I had a good stroke with my
right, but must less of an underpush on my left..
i also would love to see my transition from high speed
to sprint, as I think my push direction gets
craptastic...
always something to learn.. .
get there when you can Uel, this is SUCH a casual
thing.. anything we can get is bonus.. .
I hope someone other than me can drive a stick shift,

are we following the "Chad-train" or are we on our
own?
I have my wife's convertible today, and my camera, if
folks wanted to get there a bit early (like 4:45) I
am interested in doing some low-key video-taping of
folks speed-skating in Liberty Park, both from the
camera angles that standing up in a convertible
provides, and from general on-skate following...
so wear your pretty skinsuit!!!
taping would be, from a workout perspective... a
gentle warm-up...

Hi guys,
Andrew, the skate for wednesday is the airport road (you will be back
fom Colorado for that one). We can either do the 10 minute workout
you came up with, or we can just go out and set a nice pace. You guys
let me know.
See you all soon,
Eric d'Y. ;)
Actually I have this video on VHS at my house... anyone who brings
the pop corn is allowed to watch it. The name is acces to speed and
it is about 7 tears old. It really is a cheesy video, but if you guys
like it I have the full 15 to 20 minutes it runs for.
Later,
Eric El Joven! :)
