I was hoping I'd have a little more information about Lifetime's skating
coverage for the list by now. I work in cable, and I just went to
Lifetime Upfront (an event where the networks tell their affiliates what
new programming will be happening for next year, so we can get working on
local ad sales) and thought they'd have details (might as well combine
work and fun whenever possible). They didn't mention synchronized
skating per se, but did do a brief talk about Lifetime Sports, including
the WNBA, and mentioning that they are "really excited" to have a new
partnership with "The International Skating Union". I think the bullet
on the presentation literally just said "International Skating Union"
with no mention of it being the Grand Prix Series or anything like that.
The only thing the woman given the presentation knew for sure was that
they had "five events" (I'm assuming everything but Skate America); there
were no dates, no formats, and she didn't know who they had for
announcers (I'm guessing they'll share with ABC like ESPN does). Then
again, I have a feeling that if I had asked who would be skating, she
might have said "I think that little russian orphan girl?". I'll keep
the list posted if I find out more.
