Instead of passing pucks, a few Penguins spent Thursday passing out season tickets.

As a show of their appreciation for tremendous fan support, Pittsburgh Penguins players hand-delivered season tickets to 24 season ticket-holders throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Marc-Andre Fleury, Ryan Whitney, Colby Armstrong and Maxime Talbot made the deliveries to the fans, who were selected at random.

"It was nice. It was nice to see the reaction on people's faces," Crosby said. "Everyone appreciated it; it was fun for me and for the rest of the guys to go and interact with people who support us so much. Some of the people have been season ticket-holders for 30 years. So, this was nice for us to do and to say thanks personally."

Fleury agreed: "It's been good. Everyone has been really nice. It's cool to meet the fans. They seemed happy. These people always come see us, so it's great to meet them and talk to them and see them one-on-one. It's pretty cool."

The selected season ticket-holders were informed they were getting a delivery from a player, but not told which one.

"Some of them were surprised. They didn't know who was going to be coming to their house and there were some smiles. The surprise is something they enjoy and something, as players, we enjoy doing, too," Crosby said. "As players, we can't ever look past the support we get here. For me, it's a lot of fun just to meet them and say thank you personally. There's no way we could say thank you personally door to door to everyone, but at least we got a chance to say thanks to a few. Hopefully, we'll have the opportunity to do it again."

"I'd rather see Malkin or Crosby, personally," Whitney said with a laugh. "It's cool to see any player really. It was nice for us to come out and meet some of the people who pack our rink and really support us. It's exciting. It's cool to see how big of Penguins fans some of these people are. They can tell we're excited to get started with the season and we can sense how much they are looking forward to it also.

The Penguins cut off season ticket sales at 13,500 full-season equivalents, and also recently cut off the sales of ticket-mini plans to make sure that there will still be ticket availability for individual-game buyers.
