Yes, my understanding is quit a few for Vancouver too, but 7 for sure
from OZ/GA.  4 of us are making a road trip out of it and spending
the week after SLC cruising around Whistler and Vancouver before
WC2.  (Woohoo!) So we're bound to be able to meet up with you at some
point. :-)

No worries, Mari, we'll squeeze ya' in! I don't know of any plans for
flags, etc., so I'd say it's just whatever ya' wanna do! (There was
some talk about noisemakers, so I should add - no whistles or bells -
too much like the 'official' sounds at the rink.) As for the disc -

I'm booked!!!  And I'm so excited I can barely stand it. 

The US Speedskating site has a link to the nearby Doubletree.  I booked my room through that link.  I believe you get a hefty discount.  I bought my airline ticket through Orbitz.  I specifically selected non-stop, and paid a bit more, but it'll be December and I want to reduce the chance of delays at Christmas time.

Hi, everyone!

While tearing my hair out over the last couple of years trying to summarize and publicize info for our ST trips, and knowing that people (including me) have to dig through many pages of threads, thinking 'now WHERE did I see that info?', I decided that there must be a better way to summarize data gathered at the forums and blogs (and here) that will be easy for people to refer to at a later date.

I also realized that new fans trying to learn about the sport have a similar problem referencing info that they've seen on the forums - for instance, 'how do they determine points in the world team championships?' ...

...soooo we have started a new website called www.Rocker-U.net to bridge the gap. We consider it to be a sister site to www.TheRockerFund.org but it is geared toward fan education and promotion of attendance at ST events, and in keeping with the 'education' theme, it's set up like a University campus.

It will not replace the information-gathering that is put out here and at places like OZ and GotApolo, but will instead be a resource to find summaries of that info at your fingertips.

As you explore the site, please note that it is by no means complete - but all who have 'previewed' it think that it is ready to be publicized. We have tons of content, particularly in the skater biography areas, that will be added over the next weeks and months.

For those members here at the Yahoo Group, I want to particularly call your attention to the trip-planning summary for US Championships.  For the time being, you can continue to ask questions and post information for events here, and it will be transferred to the RU summary for your future reference.

I just got my tickets!!  For those keeping track, I mailed my check from the
West Coast on 11/29.

And Lori, I'm very glad to have Rocker U's "orientation" package.  The packing
list and dictionary are sure to make my freshman course in Short Track much more
