I listened to this game online. Shawn had one fight and tried to get
into 2 others, assisted on one of the goals and was the third star.
Also, one of his shots on goal set a new franchsie record for Norfolk
for most shots on goal in a game. You can listen to any of Norfolk's
games for free at NorfolkAdmirals.com

NORFOLK (6) VS LOWELL LOCK MONSTERS (1)
NorfolkAdmirals.com

Twelve Admirals had at least a point in the game as Norfolk defeated
the Lowell Lock Monsters 6-1 at Scope.

The Admirals found the back of the net first in the opening frame on a
power play. Carl Corazzini entered the offensive zone, skated from
right to left in front of the crease and sent a wrister past Lock
Monsters' netminder Craig Kowalski at 7:22. Norfolk doubled its lead
with 39 seconds left in the first, as Martin St. Pierre scored off a
rebound on the power play. The home team took a 2-0 lead into the
first intermission.

The lead grew to three goals three minutes into the second stanza.
Mike Brown passed the puck to Matt Keith in the slot. Kowalski stopped
his initial shot, but Keith stuffed home his own rebound at 3:29.
Lowell closed to within two goals six minutes later, as Mike Zigomanis
netted a five-on-three power play goal. However, the Admirals regained
their three-goal lead on a shorthanded goal with eight seconds left in
the middle period. Mark Cullen got the puck off a turnover in the
neutral zone and skated in on Kowalski two-on-one with James
Wisniewski. Cullen sent a saucer pass to Wisniewski, who one-timed it
past Kowalski at 19:52. Norfolk held a 4-1 lead after forty minutes.

The lead grew to four goals 3:49 into the final frame. Nick Kuiper
received the puck after just having exited the sin bin and broke in on
Kowalski two-on-one. Kuiper dished the puck to Ajay Baines, who
one-timed it past Kowalski. The Admirals got their final goal from
Mark Cullen with nine seconds remaining in the third to win the game 6-1.

Corey Crawford finished with 23 saves for Norfolk while Lowell's Craig
Kowalski made 47 stops.

Norfolk was 2-8 on the power play while Lowell was 1-7.

Three Stars:
1. Ajay Baines - NOR
2. Carl Corazzini - NOR
3. Shawn Thornton - NOR
