====Rummy (Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense) has long scared me, marky.
I would watch his almost daily freakathons on CNN during the runup to
the war and cringe in utter horror. The man was so obviously out
there that watching him was like watching a reality-TV version of Dr.
Strangelove. It was as if Gen Jack T. Ripper had come to life and
taken over the whole damned Pentagon, and nobody noticed.
The weirdest thing about it was that the press would sit through
those Strangelovian pressers and laugh their fool heads off, as if
Rummy was some sort of performance artist. The more off-kilter and
bizarre his rantings became, the more amusing the press corpse found
him. When the myopic b*st*rd finally went too far in some of his
antic musings, reporters reacted as if nothing was really
wrong. The fact that he talked cheerily of death and destruction and
offhandedly dismissed the devastation of his misbegotten war bothered
them not in the least.
The whole thing was chilling and led me to question not only Rummy's
sanity, but the sanity and judgment of the press corpse as well.
If they can't see that he's a Grade A nutter, what the hell use are
they?
==Jane et al., Until I started reading FDL I didn't appreciate (Vice
President) Cheney's full evil. I was focusing on Bush. But, if Cheney
didn't have true believers supporting him, he'd be written off
as a nutcase. So, ignorant that I am, I ask who's propping up Cheney,
apart from Halliburton? He's not acting as a lone gunman, obviously.
Even if Cheney goes down, not much will be gained unless
is "organization", whatever that is, goes down with him. They'll find
another to replace him. Who should we be looking at as the power
behind Big Time? Yeah, there are a lot of usual suspects, but
apart from the broad sweep of crypto-fascists who support the
military industrial complex, war profiteers, etc., who should we be
paying attention to specifically?
===When I watched Dick on Russert's Sunday Republican meme Show, I
was truly astounded to hear him state " I believe the time is now
(has come?) for a domestic CINC".
This was @ November 2001, maybe early December.
And no one in msm or bloggers seemed to give a hoot.
This man is Mad.
Oh, and he got his Domestic CINC, ya know?
==He has revealed himself indeed. And yes, it goes beyond treason.
Encouraging... yeah, encouraging that thousands of human beings
(which chinny certainly is not) died for that little lie. Death for
profit. Isn't much lower to go there dicky, not much lower at all.
If this administration does not go to prison for treason and sedition
then this country will likely go farther to hell than it already is.
One can only hope that 2006 will show that americans have waken up
====With one word, Cheney revealed himself. From Murray Waas's
article:
Those grievances were also perhaps illustrated by comments that Vice
President Cheney himself wrote on one of Feith's reports detailing
purported evidence of links between Al Qaeda and Saddam
Hussein. In barely legible handwriting, Cheney wrote in the margin of
the report:
"This is very good indeed … Encouraging … Not like the cr*p we are
all so used to getting out of CIA."
http://nationaljournal.com/about/njweekly/stories/2005/...
Cheney has just been given evidence that Al Qaeda has links to
Saddam. Our worst post-9/11 nightmare might be true: Al Qaeda might
be working with a state that could hand it nuclear weapons to use
against us. And how does Cheney feel about this news? Concerned?
Troubled? Terrified?
Nope. He's encouraged. It's very good news, indeed...but only for
someone who's looking for justification to invade Iraq for oil and
war profiteering.
Dick Cheney is the enemy of the United States of America and its
citizens. Treason might be too light of a charge.

War Crimes Committed Against U.S. Military Personnel, June 8, 1967
USS Liberty Veterans Association - On June 8, 1967 while patrolling
in international waters in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, USS Liberty
was savagely attacked without warning or justification by air and
naval forces of the state of Israel. Of a crew of 294 officers and
men (including three civilians), the ship suffered thirty four (34)
killed in action and one hundred seventy three (173) wounded in
action. The ship itself, a Forty Million ($40,000,000) Dollar state
of the art signals intelligence (SIGINT) platform, was so badly
damaged that it never sailed on an operational mission again and was
sold in 1970 for $101,666.66 as scrap. more

I have to mention the recent death of Robin Cook.
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/politics/story/0,6903,1544261,00.html
His diaries, listed on the left of this page, are vital in
understanding the political climate in Britain at the time of the DSM
(Downing Street Minutes and Memos).
What Cindy Sheehan is doing in Crawford is very important, but the
death of Robin Cook and what he did, said and wrote about the lead up
to sell Parliament on the war in Iraq, must not be forgot with his
passing.
