Ok, I agreed that the tournament was cancelled until yesterday
 (Mar. 3), when Squash BC put out a registration form for the
 tournament yesterday. I phoned Seattle Athletic Club (the hosts)
 and they said they thought it would be on.
 
 Very confusing, anyway here is the official registration form on the
 Seattle Athletic Club website, as showed in the link:

Ok,  I agreed that the tournament was cancelled until yesterday
(Mar. 3), when Squash BC put out a registration form for the
tournament yesterday.  I phoned Seattle Athletic Club (the hosts)
and they said they thought it would be on.

Very confusing, anyway here is the official registration form on the
Seattle Athletic Club website, as showed in the link:

the USSRA for all junior divisions.

I have now taken my shy 12-year old daughter to 2 of the 11AM novice
sessions and my daughter wants to continue going.  I can't write a
much better review than that.  Both Shabana and Ayub are great with
the kids and the kids (novice and advanced) appear to truly enjoy
the time they spend on the court.  Two thumbs up here!

The junior sessions are $10.

Hi Juniors,

Good luck at the Rosebud Classic this weekend in Portland at the MAC!  Mauro told me there will be at least 8 juniors from Seattle competing. Wow!  I will be there playing and cheering you all on.

The draws are supposed to be posted here: USSRAilstation , but they have not shown up yet.  I e-mailed Melanie and she said the draws are posted in the club and she is not sure why they have not shown up on RailStation yet.  Hmmm.

Congratulations to Claudia and Yarden!

An update from Mauro (this info is also posted on http://www.seattlesquash.com ) ... 

Our players did quite well:

GU15:  Yarden Odinak, seeded #1, crushed the competition winning all matches and leaving her opponents no more than 3 points per match.

GU13: Claudia Regio finished 4th, after loosing to Olivia Fietcher, seeded #2, in the semifinal.

Surprisingly enough, this has been the first win on the East Coast for Yarden, currently #2 in the Girls Under 15 USSRA ranking. And even if some of her direct competitors were playing this tournament up in the GU17 division, they will certainly need to deal with her in March at the National Championships.

Hi Juniors,

If you are a junior squash player and you're near Kirkland on Saturdays, you may want to check out the Junior Squash Clinic that Steven Furneaux holds weekly at the Columbia Athletic Club.

 

If you spend some time watching these kids learning from the resident coach, you have to notice Steven's professionalism, passion for the sport, patience and perseverance. You will be tempted to join them in a heart beat!

 

And, if you don't want to cross the bridge too many times... Steven also teaches squash at the Seattle Tennis Club and at the Washington Athletic Club...

I stumbled onto this great sounding Junior Clinic that Shabana and Ayub Khan
offer at the
Seattle Athletic Club Downtown each Saturday.  I spoke with Shabana last evening
and she
informed me that this is open to the public.  Drop-ins are OK but Shabana
strongly prefers
that you call ahead.

Every Saturday: Clinic (beginners), 11-11:30AM; workshop (Advanced),
11:30AM-1PM. With
Ayub and Shabana.
