The Santa Monica Women's team finished the 2008-2009 season as Division II champions in Southern California. Having outscored their division opponents 223-0, the SM women have made their mark and set the bar high in women's rugby. After a run at the Division 2 National Championships in November, the women came out 8th in the nation, a great showing for their debut at the national stage.
All are welcome to join! Rookies, seasoned veterans — please join our Santa Monica rugby family!
These outstanding women have now become an integral part of the club, becoming close friends with the men's team as well as contributing to all facets of the Club including the youth program and community events.
The team has grown to include 30 women on the active roster with even more continuing to join each week as the team's reputation for camraderie, great social atmosphere and tough rugby training has continued to reach more of the Los Angeles sporting community.
SMRC women look to succeed with a winning attitude and attention to fundamental rugby. Unified by the strong bond that is the Santa Monica family, we look to integrate new players and transplanted veterans to produce winning rugby. We are always looking for more players, rookies or experienced, to join up for the 15's season. All sizes, shapes and abilities welcome!
