Just wanted to thank all who supported and participated in the NCCC
hosted cycling event to Petco Park last Sunday. Everyone seemed to
enjoy themselves and the feedback has been very positive. Among
recommended improvements: Self-starter open rollout window in place of
set time (allows more flexibility to tailor route and pace of choice)
and seats in full shade for the entire game.
Please forward any other thoughts at will. We will be building on the
momentum for another event next season. Some of the key features
include involving many local cycling clubs and cyclists in a common
community event, recreational cycling with a downtown venue, green
transportation, social recreation, and relaxed fun with a day at the
park. Note that pure baseball is not really a key factor for some,
more of an incidental ingredient. Enclosed is an article by Karl
Rudnick that mentions some of these aspects that may interest other
members of your club or circle of friends and family. If you are
inclined to forward to club officers or newsletter editors, Karl has
given permission for re-publication at will, with standard author's
credit. Anyone interested in helping plan future editions, let me
know.
Special thanks to Rich & Ina Wolf for photos, Bob "short-cut"
Chamberlain (sweeper duties), and Karl for the article.
