Just a friendly reminder about the planning party at Rich and Ina's this Sunday. There's still time to RSVP if you're planning to come. It's going to be a great time, and we're expecting a good turnout.
Related to that, Tony would like to raise a subject for discussion at the party (and online, if you can't make the party). See his message below.

Hello
Tandemists--
On
another topic, but related to ride planning, I've (Tony) been hearing
more requests for some Saturday rides, particularly from callers who
might want to become members. In general, the impression I get is that
some members (and potential members) would like to have a regular
series of rides that start earlier on a Saturday morning and finish
before lunch with maybe just a short coffee break, leaving afternoons
for errands and other activities. I've also heard some discussion of
following the club format and having multiple ride start locations to
keep it interesting, each start chosen by the leader for a particular
ride.
This
is similar to how the club operated on Sundays about 5 years ago, when
we only had one ride a month until more ride leaders volunteered. I
was thinking of doing a trial period (say, the next 4 months) and was
going to offer up Sarah and myself to lead any ride not taken by
another team for the trial period. We were initially thinking of
making the Saturday ride the LAST Saturday of each month, but that runs
into Memorial Weekend in May. Plus, I now find that I'll be taking the
Road II course in April (Saturdays, naturally) and LCI (League
Certified Instructor) training sometime in May as well. I still think
it would be a good idea to try to accommodate those riders who can't
often make our Sunday rides, and once a month is a simple way to ease
into it.
Of
course, dates, times and other details should be chosen by those that
want to do these rides, and I'd like to get some discussion going at
the meeting to see how much interest there is. Since the planning
meeting is on a Sunday, if you're interested in the concept or
volunteering to lead a Saturday ride and can't make the party, please
let us know before then so we can incorporate your input. THIS IS YOUR
CLUB, AND EVERYONE'S PARTICIPATION IS IMPORTANT TO US.
We
hope to see you there, or hear from you beforehand,
Tony
