Sunday, July 10th Club Ride   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #329 of 1202 |
Hi everyone.

This Sunday, July 10thSarah and I will be leading yet another new variant of one of my Rancho Santa Fe rides that meanders near the coast so we can keep cool and enjoy all the great quite roads and flowering vegetation (it really smells great in spring).  We will start from the official SDTC HQ (since budget cuts have closed the bathrooms at the Carmel Valley Rec center) on Boquita Drive off of Del Mar Heights, and tour Del Mar with a quick jaunt north on the coast to warm up.  Then we'll head inland through Lomas Santa Fe to reach Rancho Santa Fe and visit the local highlights in a tandem friendly jog including a loop around the lake, generally weaving our way north.  We'll stop at Stagecoach park for a rest stop at about 25 miles, then head west on La Costa out toward the beach.  We'll parallel 101 for most of the way to avoid traffic, and stop (if people are interested) at the NAKED CAFE' for brunch (one of Sarah's new favorites).  You'll be pleased by how cool and comfortable the riding will be (Sarah and I tried out the ride on the 4th) and finish up returning through Del Mar to climb back to HQ on shady streets with little traffic.  (What we call the back side return - it avoids the freeway.)

The ride will be roughly 42 miles and start at 8:30a.m. to beat the heat,
at the SDTC World Headquarters14048 Boquita Drive in Del Mar (San Diego, really, but that's another story)
We'll also have route slips at the ride start for those wishing to zip around this course at a faster pace and finish before noon.
Total climb is 2500 feet, but sections can be cut out or short for those desiring less challenge.

To get to our houseexit I-5 from either direction at Del Mar Heights and head west (uphill) to Boquita Drive at the top (just past the light at Mango) of the hill. Turn right on Boquita Drive and go nearly two full blocks to 14048, the third house on the left before the next intersection. Feel free to walk inside the garage and house door to get to the bathroom if needed -- it's marked with a quarter moon on the door and is to the right as you come down the hallway.. (Please just keep the door to the garage closed after you enter so the cats don't get out.)

Any questions? Call me at 858-509-9808.
Come join us for another adventure!

Tony
