Dear fellow and madam bicyclists:

As some of you may have noticed, it's raining outside, has been raining for
the past few days, and promises to continue to rain until Tuesday
morning. As a matter of fact, the chances for rain are estimated for this
afternoon at 90%, for tonight at 80%, and for Sunday at 60%. So if you add
up all those percentages, the chances for rain tomorrow during our
scheduled bike ride = 230%. And that's not counting other adverse
circumstances, such as cold, puddles and wet roads, splash streaks on the
backs of our Jerseys, and brakes that may not hold.

All in all, it seems the better part of valor to cancel. And so be
it. This missive is your official notice of cancellation of tomorrows
ride. But ....do not despair. We plan to re-lead this same ride later in
the year, presumably under more propitious conditions.
