Many thanks to everyone who braved the unpredictable weather and
convened on Ramona for a (short) ride, taco bar lunch and planning
party. Special thanks to Kirk and Trudie Newell for leading the ride,
hosting the party and coming up with the potluck taco bar idea. It was a
big success (and will probably be copied)!

In addition to presenting Jeannie and Jerry Davis (Team JJ) with a token
of our appreciation for all their help with the club and especially the
rally during the past three years, we discussed providing the San Diego
County Bicycle Coalition with an additional one-time contribution. Tony
reported that the SDCBC is planning to expand its efforts beyond
advocacy to launch an education program designed to begin producing
cyclists and motorists who are savvier about bicycle safety. A motion
was proposed to double the club's current annual contribution once
renewals for 2005 come in and Tony determines that there are enough club
funds for the contribution. Currently we contribute $5 a team for SDCBC
membership, and many clubs in the county are already paying twice that.
The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

NOTE: Due to an unexpected change in Creed McPherson's work schedule, he
and Jenne will be unable to lead the Halloween ride originally planned
for October 31.
